Meal out tonight 1 child not invited to DS's party

More of a WWYD and a massive first world problem. I'm going for a meal tonight with 3 friends; we all have DCs in the same year at school.

The meal out was arranged by me and friend 1, as our husbands & DCs are going off overnight together. Friend 1 suggested inviting friend 2, which I thought was a good idea and I also invited friend 3 (newer to the school).

The problem is that friends 1 & 2 DCs have been invited to my younger DS's birthday party on Monday. DD was allowed to invite 2 friends to DS's party and she chose DCs 1 & 2; they have all been best friends since nursery.

I know it seems really trivial, but I'm worried that the fact friend 3's DC isn't invited will be a big issue. Friend is quite sensitive; she was offended that I put my name down on a different stall to her at the school fete (I just went for 1 that didn't have a helper).

If you've followed this, WWYD? Invite DC3 as a massively obvious afterthought, or just leave it?

Is your DD actually friends with the other child?

AlphaBravo · 21/07/2018 07:14

Is her child a close friend of your dd?

Cheto · 21/07/2018 07:15

If she got offended by the school fete thing I'd already want to give her a wide berth Shock

How much did your DD have to think about who she invited? If there was a third place is there someone else that she may have to already justify isn’t coming as if you invite someone you could be putting her in an awkward position. You set the boundaries and hopefully your friend will understand.

I wouldn't even mention it. If it comes up, just say that DD was told she could have a maximum of 2 friends at her BROTHER'S birthday party.

Overthinking it op.

What cheto said.

Thanks all. I hope I am overthinking it. It was the the fete thing that made me think it.Grin Our DDs aren't close friends they really only see each other when arranged by us.
