To tell DH I don’t have time to make a cake (lighthearted)

DH is working all weekend. We have a 3.5 year old and 4 month old. He has hinted several times that I should make a chocolate cake, not just any old chocolate cake but a “nice” one from a Mary Berry book.

Tbh I barely have time to wipe my bum at the moment. AIBU to tell him where to go?!

No special occasion btw- his birthday is in March. Grin

Make the best cake ever, send him a photo, cut it and toddler eat it, send him a photo of a crumby plate.

Tell him to buy one or he can make one with your 3yo at the weekend.

Laugh in his face and tell him to pop to Sainsburys on the way home

Buy one. Remove box. Rough the Edges up. Put on plate. Serve and tell him how you slaved over it,

Or make one, and throw it at him when he comes in.

Tell him next time he's home and able to look after the kids, you'll see if you can bake a cake...if you have the energy. Smile

I think you should make the cake. Get your 3 year old to help! But I only think you should make the cake because you sound like you deserve some lovely homemade cake. Then next weekend when dh not working, suggest he make you Mary's incredible carrot cake Grin

Make the cake, involve the children. Send pictures of them sitting in cake mix, hands in the bowl etc.
Lightly rinse off children and volunteer him for bath time. Present a cake with suspiciously toddler size bite marks on.

Get one of those Betty Crocker cake mixes and tell him it's home made. (Hide the packet!) They are delicious and take about half an hour altogether to make and bake!

MyWaterButtIsEmpty · 20/07/2018 21:35

DON'T do a betty Crocker cake. He will expect home baking all the bloody time! Hand a betty Crocker cake mix to him as he walks in the door and leave him to bake with the kids while you have a glass of wine in the bath.
