Disappointing day out AIBU

I went to see Jeremy Kyle being filmed. I had to turn up early with no guarantee of a seat but as I was one of the first in the queue I luckily got in as was queuing from the night before. Wish I hadn’t now or gone on another day because it was a show about inspirational children and a reunion of a father and son. Erm.. I wanted fights and arguments and a laugh! Is there anything I can do? Has anyone else had the same thing happen? If I email and explain my disappointment do you think they will send me guaranteed tickets to a more dysfunctional shoe? Just my luck really! 🙄

ElementalHalfLife Grin Most are shite!

Zoflorabore · 20/07/2018 13:25

I can't believe anyone admits to watching JK Grin let alone going to watch it being filmed.

At least you had the good sense to name change.
That programme makes me cringe. I've never seen anyone with a full set of teeth on it ( refuse to have it on in my house, am talking about times when it's been on elsewhere )

Send them an email op- they may invite you on the show.

foxyliz26 · 20/07/2018 13:26

OP Perhaps you should stay in a little more !

NURSE ! she out of bed again !

BakedBeans47 · 20/07/2018 13:28
Biscuit
Singlenotsingle · 20/07/2018 13:30

Zoflora - she'd have to have a few teeth knocked out first!

ApolloandDaphne · 20/07/2018 13:36

I don't think they will give a shit that you were disappointed. They needed an audience and you obliged. Just apply for more tickets and stop being so ridiculous.

DearMrDilkington · 20/07/2018 13:59

I hope you realised it was an inspirational show before you started to boo the children as they walked on stage.

VenusOfWillendorf · 20/07/2018 14:07

YABU. If you want to see fights and arguments, you should go to the public gallery in the House of Commons. It's also free - AND you can queue for that too Grin

alligatorsmile · 20/07/2018 14:14

If you don't like the program, don't watch it. I don't like Love Island but can't get worked up that others do. No-one's holding a gun to these people's heads and making them go on the show.

MissionItsPossible · 20/07/2018 14:58

Yes I expected arguments and fighting, it’s JK not Dongs of Praise Confused
Precisely why I NC because of superior comments like this

MissionItsPossible · 20/07/2018 15:00

Oh ffs name change fail and ‘Dongs of Praise’ BlushBlushBlush

MissionItsPossible · 20/07/2018 15:00

Ah well, judge :)

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 20/07/2018 15:06

I'd rather watch Dongs of Praise tbh.

Perhaps you could go ON the JK show with your complaint? See how interesting an episode that is

MintRoller · 20/07/2018 15:10

They should put Dongs of Praise on Channel 4, I'd watch it.

BlancheM · 20/07/2018 15:15

😂

KC225 · 20/07/2018 15:16

I know what you mean OP. On a lesser level. I now live abroad, and miss a bit of morning JK. About three to four times a year I visit my elderly mother and I like watching a bit Jezza. I feel totally cheated when he does the 'inspirational'. Programmes. If I want inspirational I will look up unfollowed Facebook friends who spend all day posting that rubbish.

MintRoller · 20/07/2018 15:38

Maybe they could put it in the Alternative Christmas Message slot.

3luckystars · 20/07/2018 15:48

I’d watch it!

Sparklesocks · 20/07/2018 15:50

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but I'm not a fan of JC at all, I think parading people's pain and misery for entertainment is gross, some of the guests have mental health issues/addiction problems/learning disabilities and it's horrible to mock them on TV.

Flowerfae · 20/07/2018 15:53

If you want to see rubbish like that OP, just come to Rhyl on a Saturday night, its free and you don't have to queue.

I can't even bear to watch Jeremy Kyle on TV.. and that isn't even getting beyond him.. he's so smug, he's awful.

TattyFrench · 20/07/2018 15:58

If you go onto the ITV website, there's a section titled 'live audience shows', if you click on it you then get a drop down menu of shows, you can click on the ones you would like to see. You then get a new screen where you can 'filter' one of the options within the filter is 'dysfunctional' - if you click that you'll be guaranteed to get one where a real shit storm goes down. They provide filters like that because some people really don't want to see a dysfunctional/violent show - they end up trying to walk out and it disrupts filming - and would rather see the one you saw -which would be under the 'normal' filter. Hope this helps and that you manage to get tickets to a real humdinger.

guiltynetter · 20/07/2018 16:09

YANBU! i went to see it being recorded years ago. if i had got one like ‘inspirational children’ i would have been a bit disappointed 😂 let’s face it if you’re going to jezza you’re expecting arguing! luckily i got ‘my binge drinking dad is now my alcoholic mum’ or something similar.

i can’t watch it now, the shouting drives me mad!

Cupoteap · 20/07/2018 16:21

@TheNewJanBrady I know what you mean - same happened to me when I went to see Trisha recorded Grin

guiltynetter · 20/07/2018 16:26

@tattyfrench i actually believed you then about the dysfunctional thing 😂

Echobelly · 20/07/2018 16:29

I've never seen it - a friend told me they had a nice but none-too-bright neighbour who went on it with family. It's interesting the 'tricks' they use.

  • Guests always look like shit because they're not allowed to wear smart clothes if they bring them with (as this family did) and they won't put any makeup on them for the studio lights
  • They ply everyone with booze (not surprising)
  • They'll also tell them, or at least some of them, that that the show's going about one thing when actually it's about something else much more serious and argument-inducing.

So guests are pissed, taken off-guard and look like crap. Great TV guaranteed, huh?
