Disappointing day out AIBU

I went to see Jeremy Kyle being filmed. I had to turn up early with no guarantee of a seat but as I was one of the first in the queue I luckily got in as was queuing from the night before. Wish I hadn’t now or gone on another day because it was a show about inspirational children and a reunion of a father and son. Erm.. I wanted fights and arguments and a laugh! Is there anything I can do? Has anyone else had the same thing happen? If I email and explain my disappointment do you think they will send me guaranteed tickets to a more dysfunctional shoe? Just my luck really! 🙄

OP, where do you live, I could recommend parts of Liverpool (where I live) and bus routes were you could experience these daily.

We are having a 'family' Christening soon. most of the people going aren't speaking to each other. It will probably out do any JK show.

There's a field opposite the Church, there will be bare knuckle boxing, unarmed combat, hair swinging, new swear words and insults and I do a good Buffet.

MiaowMix · 20/07/2018 12:13

Op you can have your bunfight on here instead.
I'm sorry you didn't get to see poor people laying into each other tho 😢. That's super sad.

MintRoller · 20/07/2018 12:15

Birdsgottafly can I visit? Grin

Doobigetta · 20/07/2018 12:17

Interesting. My MIL claims that she went to see the show because she happened to be passing and a producer begged her to take free tickets to fill up empty seats.... Hmm

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 20/07/2018 12:18
I got way too much class to watch Jezza Kyle Grin
Aridane · 20/07/2018 12:18

I would be disappointed too, OP - no harm in emailing and asking for tickets for a more typical show.

Perhaps if you'd said you had gone to BBC's Question Time and there was no panel or questions from the audience but just one politician speaking for an hour with no questions you would get a more sympathetic response!

3luckystars · 20/07/2018 12:20

You should have started a fight yourself. Started jeering at the father on the stage or standing up and saying you slept with him at the petrol station or at least thrown a shoe at Jeremy.
It was your moment.

YellowTelescope · 20/07/2018 12:28

How can I get tickets to see a dysfunctional shoe?

TheFutureMrsB · 20/07/2018 12:34

How can I get tickets to the family christening with the awesome buffet?

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 20/07/2018 12:35

@YellowTelescope, the OP on the "I sell my old shoes to pervertson ebay AMA" could probably tell you how?

LagunaBubbles · 20/07/2018 12:37

My ideal day out!

MintRoller · 20/07/2018 12:43

It's the buffet I'm interested in.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 20/07/2018 12:48

I've been before. You get free tickets in the post and are guaranteed a seat unless you look under 18 and don't have ID. I never queued all night and I was in the second row.
When we got our tickets you could specify if you want the inspirational type of show over the normal type.
But as it was the show we saw was boring and was never aired.

Knittedfairies · 20/07/2018 12:49

I have never understood why watching dysfunctional families is considered to be enlightening/entertaining for the rest of us. So OP, if this is a real thread and I very much hope it isn’t, you are complaining because the episode you saw being filmed didn’t have the required number of fights and arguments so you could have a ‘laugh’? Despicable.

I feel like throwing every dysfunctional shoe I can find at you - then you can have a laugh about it.

M3lon · 20/07/2018 12:49

The thing I find weird about JK is that in his world lie detectors work....everywhere else they are patchy at best....but on JK if the lie detector test says you stole your stepchilds pocket money then you really really did!

op setting aside the obvious problem of understanding why anyone would want to watch JK, live or otherwise, I do think I understand your disappointment. I think I'd feel the same if I went to watch 'the news quiz' being recorded and got a week were they couldn't crack any jokes because there had been some horrific event in the world news....

ghostyslovesheets · 20/07/2018 12:52

You realise it’s on tv most mornings don’t you?

Magicpaintbrush · 20/07/2018 12:54

You queued all night to see a show where morons are exploited to air their ridiculous squabbles on national telly and we're all supposed to find their problems gripping, and you're disappointed because they weren't all shrieking at each other over paternity tests or whatever?

Have my first ever Biscuit

ElementalHalfLife · 20/07/2018 12:56

I guess someone has to be a Jeremy Kyle fan otherwise he wouldn't have a show.
OP sorry you were disappointed, I suppose it's a bit like going to see your favorite band when they were promoting their 4th album (rule of thumb: 4th album always sucks) and they don't play any songs you actually know or like.
Kudos for queuing overnight for tickets outside the venue - old school.

I think I may have queued for shoes back in the 80s they were in the sale at Russell & Bromley (couldn't afford them otherwise) but they weren't dysfunctional as I recall so I guess I've nothing else to add.

lostinjapan · 20/07/2018 12:59

I don’t know why people are so offended by your post OP, I would also be gutted if I was in the Jeremy Kyle audience and saw the show you described!

That said, people don’t queue from the ‘very early hours’ for a daytime/year-round show like JK (I know, I’ve been in the audience of lots of TV show), so this sadly can’t be true.

MintRoller · 20/07/2018 13:01

I love Sleeping With Ghosts by Placebo. Trying to think of others now!Grin

unadventuretime · 20/07/2018 13:05

dysfunctional shoe
😂😂😂

ElementalHalfLife · 20/07/2018 13:12

Mintroller You missed the bit about it being a rule - there are always exceptions to a rule! Grin

Eliza9917 · 20/07/2018 13:19

I used to watch it because I fancied J.K Blush

NotACleverName · 20/07/2018 13:21

Sucks to be you, I guess. That’s what you get for queuing up for a show that exploits the vulnerable.

Singlenotsingle · 20/07/2018 13:22

Why don't you volunteer and go on the show yourself, then we can all have a laugh!?
