Lighthearted thread but still, I think I have unreasonable levels of anger about this Grin

Most recent example being by a lake relaxing with friends when couple with three dogs come along, we are chatting to the woman of the couple while the dogs are jumping in the lake, playing with their toys etc.

Man of the couple is providing loud commentary of what the dogs are doing by means of

“Oooo he says! He says, Mum it’s cold in here!! Ooo I’m getting out now, he says, where’s that ball, he says!”

“I didn’t expect it to be that cold he says!!”

I know IABU but I wanted to drown him

YABVVU. Half my conversations with family are about what the dogs and cats are saying, accompanied with silly voices. I often catch myself having a conversation with the dog in the park. The upside is we are given loads of space.

actualpuffins · 20/07/2018 13:07

I refer to DH as "daddy" to the dogs and cats as well. Occasionally I may have done this in public.

thecatsthecats · 20/07/2018 13:16

I never have to speak for the cats. They have more than enough to say for themselves!

Floofer has a special miaow of complaint for when his brother, Smoothboy, has got out of the garden and been gone a couple of hours. Comes and whines to me at the front door when I get home.

They both have a specific whine for 'muuuuuuuuum, there's another bad cat in the garden mum, make him go away, he's in myyyyyyyyyyy spot'.

Smoothboy has a specific miaow for when we've ordered a particular takeaway and he can smell the chicken we got just for them.

CrazyDogLady87 · 20/07/2018 14:43

@AlbaChick
Absolutely! We are and proud! Let's face it this post from the OP really opened some people eyes! Haha

Us brits love our animals so much so we even had rspca BEFORE nspcc which is shocking really though!

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 14:44

I regularly talk "for" our cat. In a special voice. With nicknames for DC. She is usually cursing them, but in a "funny" way.

The DC love it, and constantly ask me "what is she saying? what is she saying? Do her voice! do her voice!" They are not small either, 11 and 15.

TBH, I feel I can understand what she is thinking, and I am merely vocalizing her thoughts for others who do not have my powers :) :D

@questionzzz

Do her voice! do her voice!" They are not small either, 11 and 15.... merely vocalizing her thoughts for others who do not have my powers smile

Agreed!! My 11 year old dss is the same all 4 of my dogs have an idvidual voice to match their personality.

Theycouldhavechoseneve · 20/07/2018 17:28

I feel like I want to come and visit all of your pets Smile

AlbaChick · 20/07/2018 23:09

I want yo visit all the owners. They found as though they’re all absolutely and delightfully nutty, in the nicest way, and have really brightened my day reading this thread.

My dog says YABU Wink

My cat’s russian, we are the “hoomans”...
Our oldest dog has a speech impediment in the way that he pronounces his Ls as Rs and his Vs as Bs, unless the V is at the start of a word, so “lovely” is “rubbry” etc. He also texts. Our youngest dog sounds a bit dim, our middle dog just sounds like average 5 y/o. We’re all VERY mad here 🤪 but I wouldn’t speak to strangers as my dogs.

WTFnnoh · 22/07/2018 11:37

You would hate me OP. I have three dogs all with their own voices and personalities. My sis and I make the youngest (and most outspoken Grin) dog talk to us all the time. He has a little boys voice and most of the time just states the bleeding obvious with the joke being that he occasionally spouts some very deep and meaningful philosophical observations. It’s been an in-joke since he arrived but it’s gone so far that I now do it when I’m alone with them in the house. I catch myself doing it (having a conversation with him, answering for him) and it occurs to me that I am in fact just talking to myself. Mental I know but also part of the fun of pets!

Therunecaster · 22/07/2018 13:12

My dachshund has a German accent and makes rude remarks about my partners cooking...partner doesn't speak dog so I am forced to repeat the critisism. Makes us both laugh.Grin

KeepServingTheDrinks · 22/07/2018 17:53

I had to search this thread out. I didn't post on it, because it would be too outing, but we do also voice our DDog (usually just between ourselves though).

BUT I was telling DH about Buswankeress's hysterical horse conversations last night, and he was still laughing about it this morning!

blueskypink · 22/07/2018 18:01

WTFnnoh - I could have written your post. Conversations with dogs are one of life's greatest pleasures. All of mine have very distinctive accents and characters. They only speak en famille though - they don't talk to strangers.

I have had the odd embarrassing moment when we've been deep in conversation on a walk, thinking we were alone, and someone has suddenly appeared next to me. Just got to style it out.

ToothTrauma · 22/07/2018 18:09

My dog has sort of a dopey Eeyore scouse voice which sounds remarkably as though I’m doing an impression of my nephew Grin He likes to narrate his thoughts on food, cuddles, games, what’s on the tv, and of course where he went on a run that day and what he saw there.

The cats have little weebling minion voices. One is soft and gentle so he whispers a lot. The other is constantly plotting her next murder, and finishes most sentences with an evil laugh.

Lynne1Cat · 22/07/2018 18:16

I have always had cats, and I've always spoken to them like that way. Some people might think it daft, but I don't bloody well care.... my cats like it, and I like it, so I'll carry on doing it.
