To not understand why (and be against) “improved sizing”

So, I don’t know if this is just in Primark or everywhere will be taking it on but I’m a bit shocked that the sizing for clothes is being re-marked. For example a 10-12 which was previously medium will now be small, 8-10 XS etc.

This feels like an excuse to ignore true sizing and doesn’t seem healthy! Tbh it reminds me of the people who try to push the “Marilyn monroe was a size 16 and perfectly healthy”. But she wasn’t was she, not a size 16 now anyway!!!

I feel like sizing is already generous and changing it to make people appear even smaller when they haven’t changed isn’t good for accountability for the fact that obesity is an ever growing crisis.

I don’t agree that my “new” size reflects my actual size and I’m sure this is going to be the same for many people.

I just don’t see what the point was in doing it! Hmm

I'm a 12-14 depending on what I'm wearing and before the pants in the style of shorts in a size 10/12 fit me fine and the 14/16 would be too big. So I bought 2 packs of new pants and they are far too small!

According to the pic on page 1 they have 12/14 sizes in Primark. Never seen them in my life!

Cheapo shops use less material sweatshops and so have huge variations in size and cut and quality. Even two size 8s in Primark or GAP or H&M aren’t the same. GAP now recommend you take multiple jeans in to try.

I know where the OP is coming from. As a naturally slim person I do worry that I might just drop of the bottom of the sizing if the few shops where things actually fit me start 'adjusting' everything. But I can live with it as long as they
do keep making my size!

I must admit I'm not familiar with H&M or GAP sizing as I haven't shopped there for years.
High street stores I stick to are Topshop, Zara and River island. Cheap and cheerful and for me personally the sizes seem pretty regular. I'm always a 6/8 in those stores.

From now on I think I'd rather spend a bit more on clothes and have items that last for more than one season.
Some of my Karen Millen stuff I've had for 5+ years!
I feel some sense of guilt consuming with the "throw away fashion" (just me?!)

Not sure how long the primark spots clothes will last...

Not sure how to reply to a certain comment but I totally get where you're coming from GrandTheftWalrus! Everything in primark seems to have shrunk in size but be given a bigger label size. Bit annoying.
I must admit that the quality of the clothes went down massively a few years back and since then I've only really got jeans, socks and underwear from there anyway.
This size changing mess is just the final push for me to avoid the store altogether

(And yes, I realise I'm being petty 😂 but it's just how I feel. I should really get out more and not let such things bother me 😂😂😂)
