To feel sickened that this man is being referred to in this way (WARNING UPSETTING CONTENT)

This man raped a three month old baby boy to the point where the baby needed corrective surgery.

He is now in a women’s prison in Canada where he has beaten up a female inmate.

THIS is where self ID leads. Men like this being incarcerated with women and their crimes being counted as female.

Go on, Mumsnet, delete me for deliberately misgendering a male baby rapist.

THIS.IS.A.MAN.

Perhaps this story will illustrate why feminists are so up in arms about self ID.

I would love to see even the staunchest anti-women transactivist tell me that this person is a woman and that they belong in a women’s prison.

TheBiologicalWoman, of course I am banding around the term transphobic because it is being used to protect sexually predatory men, because women who oppose men in women’s prisons are getting written off as transphobic.

All I have been trying to say is that if you argue biology you will get labelled transphobic and your argument will go nowhere, it’s essentially a moot point because of this, it’s like going around in circles. What I am trying to say is that women need a different approach in order to gain any traction on getting our rights back to not be subjected to sexual predators because of a loophole.

Neededastealthname · 19/07/2018 00:18

Amal, I clearly said BORN female.

Amalfimamma · 19/07/2018 00:23

I've copied the full post for you.

Transmen = natal females
Trans women = natal males.

If you're shouting downposters as transphobic you really should have a basic grasp of the subject in hand. You obviously do not

*Neededastealthname

What would a trans man say if you stated that they shouldn’t go to a female prison because they weren’t born female, they would shout “transphobic” and it would work because sadly we live in a world where protecting a persons self identification matters more than a persons physical well-being, what if women came at it from a different angle, we don’t want trans men in women’s prisons because of the risk of violence from those who seek to misuse these laws?*

UneMoonit · 19/07/2018 00:23

At 11 he murdered a year old, at 5 he raped a 3 month old, he should not be allowed near women or children and as a mother I find it disgusting that anyone is defending his feelz over the rape of one baby and the murder of another

Agreed. I don't actually think anyone should have to share an enclosed space with such a person, men included - clearly any moment of power over anyone that such an individual got would be dangerous.

It is especially fucked up that this beast gets to throw a woman around and kick her in a place she literally can't escape from, as is the number of decisions that must have led to that situation, where one tiny trace of common sense or a moral compass in such decision makers would have prevented it.

Storminamug · 19/07/2018 00:23

Yep - ok - we are not going to get past the binary constraints of the XY and YY chromosomes. And if you have the misfortune to be born not fitting that - well I guess you just aren't human.

Technically when he committed the crime he was a man and should be in a male prison. Technically he was also a child ... yet nobody is arguing he should be in a young offenders institute.

Rollonweekend · 19/07/2018 00:27

'She's' not a woman. He's a violent evil man.

Amalfimamma · 19/07/2018 00:29

He was 15 when he raped a 3 month old. He was held for evaluation for 2 years while awaiting trial as an adult because of the severity of his crimes and his lack of remorse, plus his belief he had done nothing wrong.

Have you read the story?

Amalfimamma · 19/07/2018 00:32

Plus he's now in his 30s. He has no place in a youth offenders, just like he has no place with vulnerable women on a psychiatric ward.

Rollonweekend · 19/07/2018 00:32

So yes this child rapists / molesters should be in prison with other child rapists / molesters. Now as it is appparently only men and transwomen who commit violent and sexual offences - then bring female and male prison categories in line and you will have female prisons with a wing just for transwomen ... apparently.

Not really sure what you are articulating but I'll take a stab at it.

Male sexual offenders should not be in female prisons.

Hope thats clear.

Rollonweekend · 19/07/2018 00:40

@storminamug And shoplifting transwomen? They belong in male prisons?

no but how about we get concerned about the sex offenders? Wouldn't it be nice to consider protecting women from them?

Do you disagree?

Storminamug · 19/07/2018 00:48

Crystal.

If your son / daughter comes out and tells you that they feel they were born into the wrong body - it is important to tell them that they are wrong. The are the gender they were born with.

If they do undergo a sex change - that does not mean you need to accept this change - they are biologically the gender they were born.

I have enjoyed this trip back to the 80s - this lack of acceptance certainly brought back an air of nostalgia but I feel as a society we need to move on now.

This is just another chapter in a long history of transphobia. As I said before - you will look back and realise you were on the wrong side of history.

@MrsPear damaging mindset to have, men ( and women ) can be raped by biological women. You can be raped without the rapist having a penis.

Amalfimamma · 19/07/2018 00:52

Not in the UK you can't,

Rape is a statutory offence in England and Wales. According to the law, rape occurs when one person penetrates another with their penis without the consent of the person being penetrated. If a victim is forcefully penetrated with an object, this is classed as "Assault by Penetration" (section 2).

worriedupstairsneighbour · 19/07/2018 00:55

@ThroughThickAndThin01 Women can’t rape, it’s impossible.

so if, for example, a female is having sex with a male the male withdraws his consent and wants to stop but the woman carries on anyway, what's that? Or if a female drugs a man and then sleeps with him? Is this not rape?

worriedupstairsneighbour · 19/07/2018 00:59

@Amalfimamma Ah okay, I did not know that!

Amalfimamma · 19/07/2018 01:01

@worriedupstairsneighbour according the to actual legal definition in the UK, no. It's not rape. I'll repeat the legal definition

A rape is when a person uses their penis without consent to penetrate the vagina, mouth, or anus of another person. Legally, a person without a penis cannot commit rape

Amalfimamma · 19/07/2018 01:03

worriedupstairsneighbour
Cross post.

Sexual assault would be the legal definition but not rapr

SPOFS · 19/07/2018 01:03

@worriedupstairsneighbour

I would consider both of those scenarios as rape, yes.

However, that doesn't change the fact that the overwhelming majority of rapists are and will always be men.

AssassinatedBeauty · 19/07/2018 01:03

No one is born with a gender.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/07/2018 01:04

What a shockingly terrible crime that poor baby

Committed by a man who will always be male as you can’t change your sex

And who gives a fuck what he wants to be called or upsetting him by using the wrong pronoun

And no worried it would be sexual assault as women don’t have a penis

worriedupstairsneighbour · 19/07/2018 01:05

@SPOFS of course, I was not disputing that at-all in my post.

LunaTrap · 19/07/2018 01:09

What was the purpose of the 'women rape people too' post then? 98% of sexual violence is committed by men.

worriedupstairsneighbour · 19/07/2018 01:11

@LunaTrap I was under the impression that women could rape men, a very close friend of mine was recently " sexually assaulted " by a woman and it touched a nerve whilst scrolling through the thread to see people say women can't rape men but it turns out they are right!

Nothing to do with the Original Post though, it was just a a reply to a comment I saw when scrolling through the thread.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/07/2018 01:12

As I said before - you will look back and realise you were on the wrong side of history.

I’m happy to declare here and now that I won’t. It’s impossible to change sex. Men have a penis, women have a vagina. Surgery cannot make one in to the other any more than it can make a white person black, or a 60 year old in to a 20 year old. You can pretend this happens, but it does not, no matter how much the person undergoing surgery wishes it to be so.

I’ve always hated being female, I resent having to suffer periods, endometriosis, PCOS and ridiculous breasts that get in the way. I would swap to being male in a heartbeat if I could. But that’s not going to happen, I am what I am.

LunaTrap · 19/07/2018 01:17

Ah apologies, I thought you were one of those posters who comes onto a thread about male violence to say women do it too! I see you were just addressing the specific point about rape.
