It stinks. It’s 3 weeks old.

I’ve scrubbed it with carpet cleaner, soaked it up and sprinklined good box and a half of cornflour on it which I’ll leave for an hour- need to go out to the doctors today which is a PITA

Any other advice to get rid and dry quick??

The cornflour appears to be turning into a brown sludge :S

You need an enzyme cleaner. Specialist stuff, any pet shop will sell it.

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 16/07/2018 07:24

You need bicarbonate of soda, not cornflour. It'll probably need a number of weekly treatments before it really starts to go.

UrsulaPandress · 16/07/2018 07:26

A cut onion is apparently good at getting rid of smells.

ToadOfSadness · 16/07/2018 07:28

Cornflour is used for thickening sauces, what you needed was bicarbonate of soda.

Try to get the cornflour off, do not add water, then let it dry, give it a brush to get it off, then vacuum it.

What you need is Simple Solution or another pet enzyme cleaner. And a sponge, and once it has been on for a while, then wash it off and blot it, over and over again with towels. If you have one of those wet & dry cleaners that sucks water up, use that.

We bought a car that had belonged to a rescue and it reeked of dog, I cleaned every inch of it with Simple Solution, blotted with towels and aired it with the windows ajar, the smell went.

White vinegar is also good but not mixed with cornflour.

Singlebutmarried · 16/07/2018 07:31

Then get down to b and m for a rubber floor liner for the boot (assuming that’s where the hound goes)

WineAndTiramisu · 16/07/2018 07:33

Enzyme cleaner, pets at home do a good one, or most supermarkets do it as well

MayContainBrain · 16/07/2018 07:34

This is the thing- he was seatbelted in the front! So he’s pissed on a seat that’s used daily by my boss which is fanfuckingtastic.

I used cornflour to soak it up ASAP

hidinginthenightgarden · 16/07/2018 07:38

Cornflour isn't used to soak things up though bicarb soda is!

OliviaBenson · 16/07/2018 07:39

Bicarbonate of soda will help with the smells.

Also use a biological washing powder with enzymes.

JeffJarrett · 16/07/2018 07:40

Definitely bicarbonate of soda. I tried EVERYTHING for dog piss and that was the only thing that saved my rug.

LakieLady · 16/07/2018 07:45

White vinegar is good at getting rid of dog pee smells, but until the vinegar smell wears off it's pretty unpleasant.

FeistyOldBat · 16/07/2018 07:45

I keep Sanitaire absorbent powder in case of a cat emergency. My present owner is fine but the previous one had health issues later in life, and it works. Obviously no use to you for the present, but it's a good product to have available.

Otherwise I second the advice of white vinegar, or if not, a bio laundry detergent.

For your boss, an incontinence seat pad if you can get one locally, maybe put a towel over it, and a sheepish apology.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2018 07:46

Cornflour just makes things stick.

Sorry!

FlibbertigibbetArmadillo · 16/07/2018 07:47

You need to get the cleaner specifically for dog wee or he will probably wee there again. Just use hot soapy water for now and some disinfectant, and fabreeze for the smell. In this weather it will dry quick and I very much doubt your boss will notice.
At 3 weeks old assume it will happen again and in lots of different places

Dhalandchips · 16/07/2018 07:54

Where can you buy bicarb in huge quantities? I can only find it in little tubs in the supermarket and I'd need about 50 of them to get the smell out of my car?!?

Stefoscope · 16/07/2018 07:58

wilko do largish boxes (1kg?) of bicarb. Dissolve biological washing powder in boiling water, allow to cool a little, pour on the affected area. Leave for a few minutes then blot out with a towel.

MayContainBrain · 16/07/2018 08:06

It’s all over the seat and the bloody carpet. The dog is 6. It’s the car that’s three weeks old. It’s raining here so can’t even leave the bloody windows open.

Anyone want to take a collie off me for the day because he’s in the dog house big time with me Grin

UrsulaPandress · 16/07/2018 08:11

What on earth made him do that.

Did you scare him with your driving?😂

GloGirl · 16/07/2018 08:16

Cornflour! Shock

Wipe it all off, use kitchen roll. Quickly.

Get a bucket of hot water with a few cloths and a couple of tablespoons of biological washing powder. Wash, repeatedly with a damp cloth, try to keep using a clean cloth rather than put all the slufgy stuff back into the bucket.

Get a couple of towels and use a lot of pressure to soak up moisture.

Then spritz wirh something that smells nice, then grab a bin bag to use on the seat if someone needs to sit there before it fully dries.

Do NOT use bleach to clean it up.

Booboostwo · 16/07/2018 08:26

As above enzyme cleaner. You’ll be surprised. I’ve used it for cat and dog urine on sofas, beds, etc (too many pets!)

MayContainBrain · 16/07/2018 08:28

I think maybe I did Ursula Grin. I stopped at my mums to load some boxes in the boot. I let him run round while I was loading the car and granted didn’t see him have a wee but assumed he did- ran around for a good 45 mins. Put him back in the car, belted him in and realised I’d left my phone. Ran back in for less than 2 minutes and came back to find he’d done it. I knew he had done something because I could just by the look on his face when I walked over to the car Hmm

Pop into a car valet service if there is one nearby as they will have enzyme cleaner and a cleaning machine. Neutradol is an air freshener that won't harm anyone who has asthma.

Buy a seat cover and rubber mats

Mamabear14 · 16/07/2018 08:30

You need simple solution. Got the smell of wee out of my curtain and sofa when the dog peed on it

GlamourBear · 16/07/2018 08:30

Could you try the vanish gold carpet care powder? The one in the pink bag. It works wonders on carpets (smelly toddler sick incidents) and gets rid of those nasty smells. I've never tried it in the car though so not sure how or if it would work
