Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Parking situation on my new road.

What an excellent thread!! That note! What utter CFs.

slovenlys · 17/07/2018 17:44

Dying on an update Grin

imnotreally · 17/07/2018 17:55

Golden isn’t that called Uber?!

JessieMcJessie · 17/07/2018 18:17

Sorry if I am being dim but why is the kerb dropped at the end of the cul de sac where CF neighbour is parking the three cars? I thought dropped kerbs were for access to driveways, but there is only grass beyond that kerb, right?

GrumbleBumble · 17/07/2018 18:21

Lots of drop kerbs are crossing points for wheelchairs buggies etc.

BoomBoomsCousin · 17/07/2018 18:36

Also sounds like it might be an access point for council vehicles on to the grass for maintenance or the like.

SubtitlesOn · 17/07/2018 18:39

As a wheelchair user dropped curbs are very important to me SmileSmileSmile

Sometimes I have to go along in the road if there are no dropped curbs or they are blocked by cars, lorries etc AngryAngryAngry

A buggy or pram you can lift the front wheels to go up a curb if no dropped one is there but I can't make my wheelchair go up a curb + also if there are any town planners this thread please make them go right down to the same level as the road not a bump/ledge that I can't get the wheelchair to go up

JessieMcJessie · 17/07/2018 18:45

So the council would be very interested in it being blocked all the time then.

SubtitlesOn · 17/07/2018 18:52

I would deffo add that to the compliant to council about these CF family but in reality some councils don't really care about wheelchair users when it comes to making sure they have access IMHO + IME AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

I meant kerbs not curbs BlushBlushBlushBlushBlush

BoomBoomsCousin · 17/07/2018 18:54

Possibly Jessie, but if they only need access once in a blue moon for scheduled maintenance that they will put up temporary parking restrictions for then they might not really care. There’s only one way to find out though...

SubtitlesOn · 17/07/2018 19:02

The op mentioned a man with mobility scooter

How easy is it for him to go thru the gap to dropped kerb?

Where does this grass area lead to?

Is it just a play park or does it go somewhere?

LongSummerDays · 17/07/2018 19:03

@TwoBlueShoes thanks for the Army Dad thread link, I had misremembered it. Nasty turn out. Sad

hamandpease · 17/07/2018 19:09

I was hoping for a home-from-work update Grin

DunkandEggAgain · 17/07/2018 19:21

Me as well. Inconsiderate parking is infuriating. We've had our fair share so I sympathise.

Rn1986 · 17/07/2018 19:39

I've just eagerly read the army dad thread but there was no update on what happened after. I'm really going to stop moaning about where I live because the stories on here are making me so shocked at how horrible/rude people are.

CrohnicallyEarly · 17/07/2018 19:52

Re: parking on drive being a higher insurance risk than parking on the road.

It's to do with theft- if you have a nice, expensive car parked on your drive, thieves know which house to break into to find the keys. I'm sure with immobilisers and things, thieves prefer to steal the keys than try to steal a car without them. If you park on the road, it's less obvious which house the keys will be in.

GoldenKelpie · 17/07/2018 20:20

imnotreally, I thought Uber was a taxi service, I have no experience of it where I live.

In the future we may not own cars but be part of networks of self-drive electric cars which we can book or call upon when we want them. They will be parked at local points and we will use an app to see where the nearest suitable vehicle is and 'call' it. It will take us where we want to go.

It is all a bit radical and weird but really something has to change doesn't it? We can't go on like this, we are running out of room.

goldenroad · 17/07/2018 20:21

@TwoBlueShoes thanks for the link I enjoyed the army dad thread! However will be forever wondering what the latest update was 😩

Myotherusernameisbest · 17/07/2018 20:35

Op comeback! Are you ok?

flumpybear · 17/07/2018 20:48

The only worry is that if the council double yellowed at the bottom of the lane where would the cf's then park their cars?

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 21:34
