Weather making me ill

GreenEyedBlonde · 14/07/2018 20:30

... to think this long heatwave is making me feel poorly? I'm fair skinned and never been one for hot weather. Does anyone else feel sick, tired, low on energy and just pretty shit in general? Roll on Autumn!

PinkCrystal · 14/07/2018 20:38

Yes same for me

VintageVelvet · 14/07/2018 20:41

Isn’t it called summertime, and part of the 4 seasons contract.

biscuiteater · 14/07/2018 20:48

It got colder for a while but now warmer again. Not noticed it being boiling though, I think it got to 26c today which is fine for me. Cleaned the windows today, sorry you are finding it too hot. I'm usually always cold so I think it's lovely to have some warm sunny days for a change. Last week in the cooler weather I had to wear my winter clothes! It will turn cooler again before long I expect.

ElderflowerWaterIsDelish · 14/07/2018 20:50

It makes my asthma worse when it gets hotter, I wheeze at nights and mornings

FannyFifer · 14/07/2018 20:52

It's horrendous, struggling here and DH is also covered in some mad heat rash.
I live in Scotland, dinnae expect to get this weather for such a prolonged period.

Brigante9 · 14/07/2018 20:53

Me too. Despite the heat today, I had a fever, shivering and was cold! Had to go to bed for the afternoon, wrapped in my duvet! Me hands and feet have exploded with eczema blisters, which I’ve never had before. I’m ripping off my skin cos I’m scratching so hard. Roll on Autumn.

AuntieStella · 14/07/2018 20:54

I find running distinctly harder in hot weather. I make greater respiratory effort, and if I become breathless it's much harder in heat to get back into an even keel.

I also sleep badly when it's humid, which can lead to a 'feel bad factor'

But I love the long how summer days! Despite all that

ChristmasTablecloth · 14/07/2018 20:56

It definitely saps the energy out of me but on the whole I would rather we have long sunny spells in the summer as it makes most people happy.

I like the blue skies, light evenings and the smiles on most other people's faces and being able to leave washing and other stuff out in the garden without having to worry about bringing it in because of rain.

I don't like feeling sweaty, not knowing what to eat, having to keep legs and armpits in a presentable state, extra work watering garden, keeping curtains closed all day to avoid house heating up, smells from the bins on the streets, flies, wasps, bites, having to put suncream on all the time, food going off more quickly yada yada. But I keep all those moans to myself because I appreciate that millions of people absolutely love the sun and all that goes with it.

userofthiswebsite · 14/07/2018 20:58

I get a lot more headaches.

GreenEyedBlonde · 14/07/2018 21:01

I'm getting headaches too! Only positive is I don't have a strong appetite so I've lost weight :-) every cloud!

Brigante9 that sounds like what DH has, loads of wee blisters all over his legs.

Grilledaubergines · 14/07/2018 22:15

Lots of people are struggling with the heat as we’re simply not used to it in this country. I feel better for the sunlight but very tired.

Sadly there’s nothing we can do to change it. We’ll be knee deep in autumn leaves before we know it.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 14/07/2018 22:19

I’m in the first trimester... so feeling sick and tired as standard, the weather on top of that is nearly finishing me off 😩

Brigante9 · 14/07/2018 22:19

@FannyFifer, mine is strictly confined to palms, sizes of fingers, toes and soles. I was in A&E on Sunday cos the ball of my foot blistered and all the skin slid off! 5 doctors had no idea, but shoved a cannula in, took loads of blood and put loads of IV antibiotics in. I diagnosed dishydrotic eczema. Torturous. Very icky picture, sorry.

FannyFifer · 14/07/2018 22:26

Ooooft that's really bad and must be absolute agony you poor poor thing. I have shown DH and he realises he has little to moan about compared to you.

lljkk · 14/07/2018 22:28

Gnarly blister, Brig.

9amTrain · 15/07/2018 00:02

@VintageVelvet it would be summer if it was normal for us however we don't have this every year, at these temperatures, for this long without a break. I read the average temperature before now was 16 degrees. Now it's like 28, which if you're not used to, which many of us aren't...

CeridwensCottage · 15/07/2018 00:07

We’re on holiday in north wales atm and considering going home tomorrow - a day early - because it’s just too hot. None of us cope very well in the heat and we’re all exhausted and headachy.

seventhgonickname · 15/07/2018 00:07

Don't worry,school holidays,lower temperatures and rain on the way.Grin

PickAChew · 15/07/2018 00:10

I understand. Took 10 breathless minutes to make a 5 minute walk, this afternoon.

PhilODox · 15/07/2018 00:15

Oh brigante that looks extremely painful! Thanks hope it clears up soon.
My children are suffering with hay fever still, and DH has terrible asthma.
I have enjoyed the warm spell though, first time in years my legs have been bare!

cariadlet · 15/07/2018 00:16

My hayfever has been worse this year than ever before.

Sleeping has been hard in the heat - made worse by waking up a couple of times a night because I'm so blocked up thanks to the hayfever (poor DP has sought refuge in the spare room a few times because the noises I make when I'm blocked up wake him up!)

One day last week I started to feel really weird when I was walking home from work - I was sick as soon as I got in and was in bed by 8. I was fine the next morning so I'm sure it was just the affect of the heat.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/07/2018 00:21

Jesus Brigante, that's awful! I have that, but in the pinhead form. Drain them with a pin, pull off the dead skin in a week.

I was dismantling furniture today, bubble wrapping it and moving it downstairs. Dripping like a fucked fridge, got through 4 litres of squash.

tigercub50 · 15/07/2018 00:27

I have felt really sick & very sleepy. Not headaches as such but light - headed & dizzy sometimes. I love summer but the high 20s/early 30s is too much. It was around 26 in Majorca but it’s a different kind of heat. More humid here.

Jonbb · 15/07/2018 00:32

We are used to it as we live part year in a hot country and it's fine but you have to drink an awful lot of fluids during the day to stay hydrated. If you aren't peeing every 3 or 4 hours you aren't drinking enough. If you are shivery, cold or headachey it's possibly mild sunstroke. Don't rely on feeling thirsty, and drink lots, because sunstroke can make you nauseous and not want to eat or drink.
