Playing a comedy out loud. I know the weather is nice, but if the neighbours were doing this I would be really annoyed. Imagine if everyone in the road did it?

I have asked him not to, but apparently IABU. What's the Mumsnet verdict?

He needs earphones.

AnyFucker · 14/07/2018 17:43

He has no manners

ReadingRiot · 14/07/2018 17:43

How loud is it? Provided its "normal" I don't see its any different to having a conversation in your garden or a few friends for drinks.

MrsExpo · 14/07/2018 17:44

Has he heard of ear buds? Get him a set.

If it's very loud, he is BU. If it's at a normal volume then probably not given it's not late etc.

(PS ... mine is sitting on the bed watching cricket on his. At least I can shut the door. ..... Smile)

Flyingpompom · 14/07/2018 17:44

I don't see the harm. Is it horribly loud? If the neighbours were chatting in their garden you'd probably hear them just as easily as his comedy show.

Pemba · 14/07/2018 17:44

Well that's another way to look at it I suppose Reading. Never thought of that.

Earphones would be better but I sometimes have a small radio playing on the back step (reasonable volume not blaring) when I'm doing stuff in the garden so as long as its not too loud I don't see a problem. My neighbour does the same, plus I listen to their dog barking occasionally and the woman on the other side yacking on her phone whenever she's out for a smoke and yelling at her kids constantly so swings and roundabouts really.

LoisSanger · 14/07/2018 17:49

I was watching Wimbledon in my iPad in the garden earlier on. Then stopped as I could hear my neighbours conversation and realised he could hear that so I shouldn’t have done it. DH thinks it was all right but reading this I think I shouldn’t have done.

Oh well hopefully our neighbour is ok about it. It’s odd as children playing loudly next door but one seems all right whereas me listening to something isn’t. Maybe it’s because it’s an artificial sound?

Melliegrantfirstlady · 14/07/2018 17:53

What’s the world come to when your wife means because you are watching the iPad in the garden.......

Melliegrantfirstlady · 14/07/2018 17:53

Moans

Pemba · 14/07/2018 17:54

Well he seems to have turned the volume right down, so perhaps I will let it go for now.

I was in my garden listening to a podcast earlier, was no louder than any other garden noise from round and about. I didn't have headphones in becasue my kids were out too and i wanted to be able to talk to them if they needed me. I don't think there's anything at all wrong with low level noise in your own garden.

Llanali · 14/07/2018 19:59

I doubt his iPad with no speakers goes loud enough to be a big disturbance surely?

NoNarnas · 14/07/2018 20:02

I’m watching TV in my lounge with the French doors open and all I can hear is next doors kids jumping on the trampoline and screaming. It’s very annoying. I would much rather hear someone’s TV on low.

Stopitjuststopit2018 · 14/07/2018 20:42

I don’t see the problem with this. Surely as long as he’s not connected it to a speaker then it can’t be that loud for someone to take offence

Bambamber · 14/07/2018 20:45

I watch stuff in my garden. I have the noise so I can just about hear it, and it would be even quieter for the neighbours

Maelstrop · 14/07/2018 20:58

Headphones. I find that incredibly selfish and it would drive me nuts.

SadieHH · 14/07/2018 21:14

Wouldn't even notice. The things people get het up about lately beggar belief.

Rachie1973 · 14/07/2018 21:17

I watch TV in my garden all the time. Theres no way the volume is loud enough to disturb my neighbours during the day. I can hear kids playing, loud birds, cars, lawnmowers.

This is everyday noise and not offensive.

Sallystyle · 14/07/2018 21:19

I don't see the problem.

An iPad is hardly that loud and if it is during the day or early evening it should not be an issue.
