We went into McDs today for the first time in ages. Do all their places make the drinks first and then wait for the food?
KokoandAllBall In EOTF restaurants, the way it works is that when you order, that order hits all production screens at the same time - kitchen, fries and beverage cell.
Each screen can only see their relevant part in the order, so bev cell can only see the drinks on the order, fries can only see what fries have been ordered and kitchen can only see the food they need to make. This is to make it easier to see what that area needs to get ready for that order.
So it entirely depends on which area is faster as to which part of your order is made first.
One of the reasons we often put new starters in bev cell is that it’s the last place you go to when assembling an order; you collect your food, then your fries and then your drinks. This means you have a bit more time than the other areas, because kitchen have to make the food and fries has to make the fries before they even come to you for drinks.
However, if it’s a sunny day you’ll probably have a lot of McFlurries and Blended Ice drinks on, and these take up a lot of time, so bev cell can fall behind when that happens.
So it’s not a case of drinks made first, it’s a case of your part of the order in that area is made when they get to it.
If you are waiting a while for whatever reason and your drinks have gone cold or your ice cream has melted, politely tell the member of staff presenting your order. They should happily replace it for you instantly.
The crew member you asked won’t have had a clue if that drink was yours or not. If it’s busy enough that you’re waiting that long, they’ll have had lots of orders on, so it wouldn’t have been easy to tell what was yours.
