To be freaked out by the lack of rain?

Every few days it’s the same. The air feels heavy like it might, just maybe, rain. Clouds form. Rain’s on its way! Today might be the day!

Then the clouds pass over again and it’s back to weird dusty heavy warmth. It’s like having really unsatisfying sex. It’s really putting me on edge.

Don’t you all be telling me it’s rained round your way today!!

I'm in Kensington in London. We had very heavy rain for quite a long time.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 13/07/2018 21:05

It rained here earlier today. My youngest was meant to have sports day this aft but it was cancelled because of it. Come hometime it was glorious sunshine again Hmm

South Wales. Hasn't rained for ages. Forecast often shows rain in a few days but keeps shifting it on a few more days. I'm enjoying the hot weather so long as I don't have to do anything much but a night of rain would be nice.

LakieLady · 13/07/2018 21:14

We had about 15 minutes of light drizzle a few days ago, but nothing for weeks apart from that. We have a view of the downs from our windows, and they are brown, not green. On the plus side, I haven't had to cut the grass for about 4 weeks.

It will rain in Cornwall next week and probably be pretty wet for 10 days or so.

We're going on holiday and we never get good weather.

WineAndTiramisu · 13/07/2018 21:17

Rained in the Midlands earlier for about 5 minutes, was rather strange to see!

halfwitpicker · 13/07/2018 21:18

Love it. All Brits do is moan about the weather! Raining too much, not enough, too hot, too cold etc etc

exLtEveDallas · 13/07/2018 21:19

Chucked it down for about 10 mins, so hard it broke 2 sunflowers, destroyed a tub of mint and took apples off the tree, then....nothing. Back to being muggy now.

No rain here since early June
my water bill will be awful
I have 750 gallons of rainwater storage and its all used up

suckmasterburstingfoam · 13/07/2018 21:22

I was sure it was raining a few minutes ago, but it turned out the cat was having a wee.

cupofteaplease · 13/07/2018 21:22

I’m happy with no rain, it means I don’t need to cut my grass!

barkwood · 13/07/2018 21:35

We've got nothing Envy (jealous)

KinkyAfro · 13/07/2018 21:38

Im just outside Manchester, been raining for a good chunk of the day and only recently stopped. Lovely and fresh now and for the first time in weeks, I'm sleeping under my quilt

unintentionalthreadkiller · 13/07/2018 21:47

I was just looking back through some photos - we were at a wedding at the end of May and it has not rained at all since then. Temp dropped a bit tonight, clouds in the distance but not a sniff of rain.

I'm loving the summer but my allotment is not!

scrivette · 14/07/2018 05:28

It's ok, the school holidays start next week so it will rain then and we will want the sunshine back.

dementedma · 14/07/2018 09:42

kids here have already been on holiday for two weeks and have been able to enjoy the sunshine for a change. last year it rined pretty much solidly from the day they broke up to the day they went back!
(Blimey, that means he goes back in 4 weeks.....)

bellabasset · 14/07/2018 09:48

No rain in Cornwall for 2 weeks, we had an early morning g deluge a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully some more on Monday. Think Devon has had some.

RIPWalter · 14/07/2018 10:08

I'm in Snowdonia, we had a few drops (and much celebration) on Tuesday evening, although it stopped so quickly that it didn't even register on our weather station! We then had about 24 hours when we were at in the clouds, so everything got damp, but no actual rain.

Problem is we are on a private water supply (borehole well) shared with 2 neighbours, which had been struggling for weeks, so we have imposed a hosepipe and paddling pool ban, and reducing shower usage (using work/gym showers where possible) and hoping for the best.

I have been bathing DD in big bucket and standing in the bucket whilst showering, then emptying bucket into water butt, so I have something to put on the garden.

Heavy rain forecast Monday, but they said that yesterday and we didn't get any.

I’m in north London and we had a good old downpour last night for a couple of hours. I stood at the back door with a big grin on my face and felt so happy! I realised I could never live in a place where it doesn’t rain for months on end. It just lifted my entire mood.
