Why should I be penalised for my wine drinking choices?

The 25% off wine only applies to bottles £5 or more because obviously that move will singlehandedly save the nations livers. Hmm

I drink alcohol free wine which is under £5 and I want my discount Bastard cunting Sainsbury’s.Angry

Surely what you want to buy isn’t actually wine? And as the offer is for 25% off wine then I wouldn't expect the non alcoholic fruit juice to be included tbh.

If you have to spend at least £5 a bottle anyway to get 25% off then yours is already cheaper

Sirzy · 12/07/2018 12:33

It’s pretty Normal for a minimum spend/price to be applied to discounts!

Branleuse · 12/07/2018 12:33

its already cheaper than most wine, and its not even wine.

You could save money by buying squash!

ProseccoPoppy · 12/07/2018 12:39

Try these people - wisebartender.co.uk they are awesome, amazing choice of alcohol free wine (including prosecco, cava etc) beer, cider and spirits. Including quite a few that genuinely taste like wine. You can probably get something way nicer than in Sainsbury’s and there are discounts for some of the cases/mixed packages.

Racecardriver · 12/07/2018 12:39

They clearly need to shift more expensive stock. They are not trying to save anyone's liver, they are not pe aliasing anyone, they are a business offer g an insentive to their customers to buy certain products.

HoneyDragon · 12/07/2018 12:42

It is wine. It’s dealcoholised wine. And the £5 min has nothing to do with price. It was always included. It’s been affected by the governments minimum price for alcohol.

It’s still wine; not fruit juice and has no alcohol so the supermarkets should not be forced to exempt it. It makes no sense.

I don't get why anyone would buy alcohol free wine in the first place Grin

Most special offers have T&C of some kind and minimum spend, why shouldn't they

Trinity66 · 12/07/2018 13:05

I don't get why anyone would buy alcohol free wine in the first place

this :p

Blinkingblimey · 12/07/2018 13:08

Blimey Proseecopoppy - that site have AF wine at £8.99 a bottle😱.... can’t think of any other ‘soft’ drink that costs so much!!

Shoxfordian · 12/07/2018 13:09

Is there any point to alcohol free wine? Grin

Catinthecorner · 12/07/2018 13:09

Alcohol free wine that actually tastes like wine? Can someone point me in the right direction of this miracle product please?

AgentHannahWells · 12/07/2018 13:10

I agree with you OP. It's stupid.

AF wine is nice. No need to knock people's choices.

Kingkiller · 12/07/2018 13:13

'Why would anyone drink alcohol-free wine?' is a really thick question. Presumably because there are people who like the taste of wine but have (no doubt very good) reasons why they can't or don't want to drink alcohol.

Loubilou09 · 12/07/2018 13:14

Does it matter whether you "get" it or not? It's surely none of your business and there is no need for comment on that element of the post. It's rude.

OP - its very annoying as it is classed as wine in the supermarkets.

Trinity66 · 12/07/2018 13:15

No need to knock people's choices.

Sorry captain serious Grin

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 13:21

Yeah, alcohol free wine - I'm with those saying that ain't wine! Grin
Plus, 8.99 for a bottle of it?! Shock
All alcohol free wines are absolutely rank, I'm yet to find a good one so if you know of any I'm all ears [for when I'm being good and not drinking wine lol)

ciderhouserules · 12/07/2018 13:24

Why would anyone drink alcohol-free wine?' is a really thick question. Presumably because there are people who like the taste of wine - but alcohol-free (or de-alcoholised) wine doesn't taste like wine! So not such a thick question.

HTH.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 12/07/2018 13:25

As I understand it, most alcohol-free "alcoholic" drinks (no, I realise that doesn't make sense) are more expensive because they involve an extra process to remove the alcohol.

So alcohol-free wine (not a bad thing in itself) for less than a fiver must be utterly rank.

henpeckedinchief · 12/07/2018 13:25

You aren't being penalised Hmm not being eligible for a benefit is not the same as being penalised.

BounceAndClimb · 12/07/2018 13:27

Why not just buy shloer, its cheap and much nicer than wine if you don't want it to be alcoholic.

starcrossedseahorse · 12/07/2018 13:29

I drink it. It is not wine.

Buster72 · 12/07/2018 13:31

It costs £5.00 to get a wine bottle on the shelf. Bottling labelling transport storage etc etc.
So any wine below 5.00 is going to be pretty shoddy.

Happypuppy · 12/07/2018 13:31

I love a nice glass of Pinot Grigio, has anyone found a non alcoholic wine that tastes remotely like it? All the ones I’ve tried have been rank!

Buster72 · 12/07/2018 13:33

....and any discount below 5 would would mean the retailers losing massivly

londonrach · 12/07/2018 13:33

I dont get none alcoholic wine..just buy shloor or similar fizzy drink.
