And to feel a horrible sinking sensation I can guess why.

What is wrong with people....its a bloody game for goodness sake.

Ok, then go call RSPCA instead of arguing here if you think a dog is injured.

WeirdScenesInsideTheGoldmine · 11/07/2018 22:17

God the second I read this a load of dogs kicked off. It’s dogs meeting a piss!!

Plimmy · 11/07/2018 22:17

Think yourself lucky OP. Around me there is an apocalyptic wail of terror as people are crucified, thrown on bonfires and pressed to death between millstones. And the thousands of dogs being slaughtered are making a right racket.

Bloody football. Summoning up violent demons like that. So unnecessary!

Regardless of changing your mind about how many dogs have been hurt, your initial assumption was that multiple dogs had been injured in your immediate vincinity due to the football. That’s pretty batshit.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 11/07/2018 22:17

If you shout, many dogs will start howling and barking. In my area, it only needs a dog or two to set a whole pack of them off.

CaptainBrickbeard · 11/07/2018 22:18

There will be animals, women and children suffering tonight because of abusive men who use the football as an excuse to drink and be violent. They are terrible men who would find another excuse of football wasn’t there, but there is an undeniable link. We always make a donation to Refuge during big football tournaments. It’s sad that something so enjoyable and fun for most is a trigger for unspeakable cruelty and aggression in the most pathetic kind of men.

agedknees · 11/07/2018 22:20

You think a dog has been injured. Regardless of what people say on here, surely it’s your moral duty to ensure no animals have been hurt?

Or are you just an armchair warrior?

Shame on you for leaving an animal in distress.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:20

Well it wouldn't previously have occurred to me that anyone would hurt an animal over a football game. If its possible one did, then maybe more could.

Maybe its multiple dogs in the same house?

If dog is still whimpering once DD is asleep (and if the human based shouting decreases to a reasonable level) I'll take a look.

Generally, when injured, dogs yelp and squeal rather than howl. My dog screamed so loud during England's last match the neighbors stopped their garden party and wondered out loud whether they should go and check on us.

He'd managed to get his head stuck in the sofa Hmm His squealing did trigger the two dogs three doors up to start howling but those fuckers are never quiet.

If its howling it's probably a dog locked outside who wants to be inside or a dog reacting to its owners upset and the other dogs are simply joining in.

Badtasteflump · 11/07/2018 22:21

Oh ffs OP if you are genuinely worried that a dog is suffering, get off mumsnet, follow the sound, see what's going on and call the Police or RSPCA.

Or stay here and enjoy whipping up another anti-football drama.

JohnnyKarate · 11/07/2018 22:21

OP I get it, although one probably set the rest off with the howling, but I am 100% positive I heard my neighbour hurt their dog when we lost just now, as it cried out and is now whimpering in the garden. I am now fearing for his wife because he's a nasty fuck.

Have reported him to the rspca before but he's a manipulative liar.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:21

Aged I don't keep dogs and I don't injure them. Save your shaming for people who do.

OP posts:
VeganCow · 11/07/2018 22:21

I think it could be possible, why are people being dismissive?
However Op I know that if we mess about in our house, making daft noises, my little dog will howl. So it’s possible the dogs you’re hearing are reacting to groans of disappointment, or sounds they don’t normally hear?

Prestonsflowers · 11/07/2018 22:22

So in a previous post you said that there weren’t many dog owners where you live.
All the multiple dogs are quiet
Now you can hear the whimpering of an injured dog and you’re posting on Mumsnet
Phone the RSPCA
Get off the internet and find the injured dog
(If there is a whimpering dog)
Can’t get to grips with strike though

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:22

johnny oh dear that's horrible. I'll definitely try and check when Ive gotten DD sorted.

OP posts:
Badtasteflump · 11/07/2018 22:22

And if you can hear it wimpering, it must be very close by - so surely it's not hard to work out where it's coming from.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:24

If its okay with you all, I'd like to finish feeding DD before I go in search of injured dogs. Something are more compatible with MNing than others.

OP posts:
ToeToToe · 11/07/2018 22:24

Well it's all quiet here - but I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that someone may have kicked their dog when England lost.

Some men get angry and fight when they lose football - they can also be cruel and violent to animals, women and children. Police call-outs were higher than NYE on Saturday when we WON.

ShatnersBassoon · 11/07/2018 22:24

Your certainty that a neighbour has deliberately injured their dog should be motivation enough to call the RSPCA. What does it matter about timing, football, what some internet people might think about your observation skills...?

StaplesCorner · 11/07/2018 22:25

Apparently domestic violence increases immediately after this sort of thing - charities have been advertising about it in the last few weeks. So no I don't think its beyond the realms of possibility that someone would have harmed their dog deliberately as a result, of the result. Please do go and see what you can find out OP.

PippilottaLongstocking · 11/07/2018 22:25

I just went for a walk and set a load of dogs off howling because they’d all been let out and it was dark and there was someone (me) walking past who they could hear but not see. I wonder if you live somewhere near me.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:25

We have a lot of houses backing all up together here...the countryside it is not. The dog is not visible from the windows, I'll have to walk around the back to see.

OP posts:
BeansandSausages · 11/07/2018 22:26

Op has a point. Domestic violence goes up massively after a loss like this. I can quite imagine an animal suffering in a similar way.

Yanbu to me at all, it doesn't make her dark at all to think that could be a reason why. It's fact that violence increases.

BeansandSausages · 11/07/2018 22:28

Excellent idea @captainbrickbeard, I will join you with that.
