to wonder why there's been a massive outbreak of dogs howling at the end of the semi-final?

And to feel a horrible sinking sensation I can guess why.

What is wrong with people....its a bloody game for goodness sake.

No - I'm just pointing out that if people are more violent to partners during football season, its reasonable to imagine they are also more violent towards dogs.

The noises were 100% from dogs (after the initial very male sounding yell).

Obviously everyone in your area is kicking their dog as a warm up to punching their DP. Just the football fans, though, stands to reason.

Sallystyle · 11/07/2018 22:05

I’m not sure why some posters are being so rude? If I thought animals sounded in distress (OP said one sounded injured) I’d assume abuse too. And yes animal abuse is quite regularly in the local news where I am.

What a 'massive' amount of them in one street at the exact same time happens regularly?

Do you think the street got together and timed their abuse or something?

Honeyroar · 11/07/2018 22:06

Jeeze there are some thick, rude replies on here!

It does happen that pissed disappointed arse holes punch their wives or kick their animals. OP isn't saying everyone that likes football does.

OP if you can still hear whimpering can't you go and try and find out why?

SoyDora · 11/07/2018 22:06

Is this thread just a chance to have a snide dig at football fans?

Of course it is.

OP I am a football fan, as is my DH. I can assure you we have never been violent toward each other or to any dogs in our lives.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:07

'massive outbreak' I will admit is overblown. ITs just about 10 times more dog noise than I've heard in a whole week before.

Dog is still wimpering.

OP posts:
M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:08

soydora well as long as you and your DH have never done it then it surely follows that no football fans have ever been violent.

I'll rest assured the wimpering dog I can hear is perfectly fine and just sad like everyone else that England lost.

I knew the football was over when my neighbour’s dog started barking. I don’t think he hit it though.

POPholditdown · 11/07/2018 22:09

U2HasTheEdge
I’m not sure what you mean?

My point is that if I heard an animal that sounded like they were in pain, my mind would jump to abuse too due to how common animal abuse is here. It’s not that big of a leap.

SoyDora · 11/07/2018 22:09

Of course some football fans have been violent. As have non football fans. I just think it’s a really strange thing to think that their are multiple people in your immediate vincinity harming their dogs all at the same time.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:09

Shit do people really think anyone believes that because some football fans are violent then they ALL are? OR that if one football fan isn't violent that means ALL football fans are non-violent?

And I'm the dumb one for thinking a howling dog might be injured?

OP posts:
Sallystyle · 11/07/2018 22:10

jeeze there are some thick, rude replies on here!

It is pretty thick to think that there has been 'a massive outbreak of dogs howling' on one street due to animal abuse.

Yes it happens. Some cunts will abuse their animals. No one is denying that. There certainly hasn't been a massive outbreak of dog abuse on OP's street.

agedknees · 11/07/2018 22:10

Maybe he’s an English springer or something? If you’re worried go round or contact the RSPCA. Surely that’s better than just posting on a forum?

Sallystyle · 11/07/2018 22:11

My point is that if I heard an animal that sounded like they were in pain, my mind would jump to abuse too due to how common animal abuse is here. It’s not that big of a leap.

Yes, but if you heard a bunch of dogs barking in the neighbourhood would your mind jump to them all being abused?

SoyDora · 11/07/2018 22:12

And I'm the dumb one for thinking a howling dog might be injured?

That’s not what you said though is it? Of course it’s reasonable to assume a howling dog may be injured. It’s not reasonable to assume that multiple people in one small area are injuring their dogs because England lost at the football.

Sallystyle · 11/07/2018 22:12

And I'm the dumb one for thinking a howling dog might be injured?

So we have gone from a massive amount of dogs, to several, now one?

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:13

Aged apparently its batshit to think a howling dog may have been injured within 30 seconds of the final whistle being blown. Presumably the RSPCA don't need bothering for batshit.

OP posts:
POPholditdown · 11/07/2018 22:13

U2HasTheEdge

If, to me, they sounded like they were in pain then yes. They could all be from one household (therefore one abuser) not one in each house.

NameChanger22 · 11/07/2018 22:14

Where I live I've heard some very angry men shouting and women screaming and arguing. No dogs though. I bloody hate football.

LunaTrap · 11/07/2018 22:14

You didn't just claim that a howling dog might be injured though. You stated that there was a massive outbreak of howling dogs probably being abused by angry football fans.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 11/07/2018 22:14

God glad you don’t live in my street there are a few dogs and if we’d yelled out at the end of the match she’d have barked like mad. She doesn’t like to miss out on joining in with any noise. And in my street if one dogs barks it travels one goes then they all go.
Dog might be whimpering to get back in if you can hear it then it’s unlikely to be inside a house it probably has finished his wee and just wants back in the house. You’ve made some giant leaps there that all the dog owners in your street kicked their dogs at the final whistle.

keyboardkate · 11/07/2018 22:15

The funny thing is, I cannot even remember who won the previous WC.

Transient thing really. NEXT.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:15

u2 yes - because people explained that when one dog kicks off it triggers all the others. Initially there were lots of dogs making a noise and I thought they were all in distress.

Now I learned something. I can now see it is likely only one dog started it all.

Only one dog is still making a noise.

So I kind of this its reasonable to have changed my mind about how many dogs may have been hurt no?

OP posts:
Sallystyle · 11/07/2018 22:16

OP is going to change her story to try to make herself sound more reasonable. You were not just talking about one dog you were talking about several, and yes that is batshit.
