to wonder why there's been a massive outbreak of dogs howling at the end of the semi-final?

And to feel a horrible sinking sensation I can guess why.

What is wrong with people....its a bloody game for goodness sake.

I think it’s a really strange leap to think that in one neighbourhood multiple people are hurting their dogs because England lost the football. Very weird way to think.
I live on a street where almost every house owns a dog. I can’t hear a single one howling. Our dog has just barked at the cat who was teasing him from the top of the DC’s Wendy house!

M3lon · 11/07/2018 21:57

aged good grief, you seem a little sad yourself...did your team just lose or something?

verystressedmum · 11/07/2018 21:57

It's obviously that close to you you can clearly hat it so go and have a look why are you posting this on here.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2018 21:57

That was DS and DH howling.

No dogs were harmed in this particular howling.

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 11/07/2018 21:58

Fuck me you sound bonkers.

Ticcinalong · 11/07/2018 21:58

Why would you think that? My dogs all bark at any cheering or shouting at the tele.
Lots of dogs are noise reactive and pick up on emotions too. I don’t know anyone who would hurt their dog, let alone over a football game Shock

Raven88 · 11/07/2018 21:58

@M3lon I had the thought about an increase in domestic violence as well. But an abuser will find any excuse.

Also I predict that as the match finished all the dogs got let out and some might of seen their dog friend and then you get the howling and barking. My mums dog whines and barks on command if you ask her him what's wrong or he sees someone he knows and can't go to them.

M3lon · 11/07/2018 21:59

Like I said, I'd just seen one of those adverts about domestic violence. Then the game finished and there was a sudden outburst of yelling, barking and howling.

Do you honestly think its impossible I'm right?

OP posts:
garagara · 11/07/2018 21:59

Probably celebrating as they're dalmations

KittiesInsane · 11/07/2018 21:59

My sample of One Whole Dog says that he heard two of his humans going 'Aaaaaaaaooooooohhhhhh nooooo' and just joined in.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 11/07/2018 22:00

Mine howls when I practice morris dancing, so I wouldnt read too much into it...

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:00

but yeah - why kick a dog when you can punch your partner instead...

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 11/07/2018 22:00

No howling here but at least 5 different sirens apparently there have been fights in pubs here when England WON

It’s not even a rough area it’s a well thought of county

My old area has a name for being rough and there was never this there

agedknees · 11/07/2018 22:00

As I said, I live in Spain. My team was out ages ago. Maybe your comprehension is not so good?

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:01

They'll probably make less noise.

Glad to hear its unlikely then...

dog is still whimpering. Others have stopped barking.

OP posts:
MarmaladeIsMyJam · 11/07/2018 22:01

So you genuinely think that all the people in your street that were watching the football went out and kicked their dogs because England lost?
Really?

POPholditdown · 11/07/2018 22:01

I’m not sure why some posters are being so rude? If I thought animals sounded in distress (OP said one sounded injured) I’d assume abuse too. And yes animal abuse is quite regularly in the local news where I am.

Sallystyle · 11/07/2018 22:01

FFS it isn't because massive amounts of people are harming their dogs.

Where is your common sense?

SoyDora · 11/07/2018 22:01

Do you honestly think its impossible I'm right?

I think there’s a vanishingly small chance you’re right. Do you seriously not think it would be weird for multiple people in one small area to start injuring their dogs at the end of a football game?! Unless you live in a really awful area known for its violence and animal cruelty?
I don’t know a single person who would hurt their dog. I know a lot of people who watched the football tonight.

NoelHeadbands · 11/07/2018 22:02

A massive outbreak of howling dogs?

I think you’re a little bit prone to the theatrical, am I right? Grin

There are some horrible people about, but it’s unlikely that lots of folks in the same neighbourhood are now kicking their pets about really

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:02

Not all......but at least one. I'd thought two but I guess it was the contagious barking effect people have mentioned.

OP posts:
ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2018 22:02

So hang on, OP, it's either the dogs howling because they were kicked or if they weren't then it's the partner of the football fan being kicked?

Really?

M3lon · 11/07/2018 22:04

Well there was no noise from dogs, then there was howling and barking of at least 3 different dogs. Not much dog ownership round here, so hearing barking or howling is rare.

OP posts:
SoyDora · 11/07/2018 22:05

Well you obviously think you’re right, so not much point discussing it further.

LunaTrap · 11/07/2018 22:05

Is this thread just a chance to have a snide dig at football fans?
