Rheumatology nurse didn’t know.

Have had 2 chronic pain autoimmune diseases for 3 years, triggered by stress.

I have googled this but can’t work it out.

Can Gp prescribe actual cannabis for chronic pain?

As far as I know - I’ve been vaping it for a while for anxiety issues - it’s made from cannabis but the active ingredient THC (the bit that gets you high) taken out. It is legal here, I think you can get it from Holland and Barrett’s, I get it online. There are many ways it has been claimed to help. I find it gives me the body relaxation I sometimes need when I am so keyed up, but others say it helps with pain relief. I’m going to look for the resources I found when I looked into it last year.

CBD oil has all the fun stuff taken out

Cannabis has two active ingredients, THC and CBD (I believe that it's more complex than that, but those are the two significant ones). CBD is good for anxiety and THC makes you high. Different products have different proportions of each. I don't think CBD (usually available as an oil or edible) is restricted. I have some for my dog so he can cope with fireworks. I'm in Canada and medical marijuana here is not usually CBD only, but it might be in the UK. Here it just means you buy marijuana legally because you are using it for a medical rather than a recreational purpose, but the line is extremely blurred, and will disappear in October when recreational marijuana is legalised.

What does the fun stuff do?

Can be energising, make you buzzy or giggly. Depends on the strain and your reaction to it too. I get emails from a local dispensary and the descriptions of their products make me think of wine / craft beer promotions. Here's one:

Electric Kush is filled with subtle citrus and pine notes while providing an incredibly stimulating head buzz. This strain delivers powerful daytime pain relief that lasts, while not burning you out.

@SteveZizzouDuggee Do you find it helps your anxiety? I'm a long term sufferer, been on Sertraline for years and don't feel it's doing much these days.

mysocksmakemeitchy · 11/07/2018 22:11

The Holland and Barrett’s one is too weak to have any effect. It does help with anxiety.

I think medical cannabis has a certain amount of thc in, whereas the cbd sold in this country only has a very tiny amount and not enough to have a psychoactive effect.

Blue Satsuma the fun stuff gets you stoned. It’s the reason people smoke it.
Everything is more intense, colours brighter, music makes you float away, everything’s is hilariously and hopelessly funny.

But it also takes your energy and drive away. It can be a bit like that bad dream when you are wading through treacle getting nowhere and it’s very hard work .

It makes you eat your body weight in food.
I made a killing at uni selling late night biscuits, chocolate and crisps. Grin

@AgentCooper it’s hit and miss, tbh. Sometimes it’s enough to stop me spiralling, sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes it can be enough to help me sleep. But it’s not as 100% effective, which is a shame. It’s not a miracle cure for me by any means but worth looking into. I haven’t tried the oil on my skin, or ‘dosing’ myself with it on a daily basis, which I’ve read anecdotes about, as my carrier method is different. It might be worth trying, as there are more and more people sharing their experiences-bad and good. I’m not an evangelist for it being a cure for everything, like some of the voices online, but certainly trying with caution.
Sorry, I don’t want to sound like a murky pusher, or a company schill!

Thc can be relaxing too its the bit that makes you stoned. Depending on the strain of cannabis is what effect you get from it.
A high sativa strain will be trippy and wake you up, sometimes good for creativity and cheefulness.
A high indica strain will make you sleepy and relaxed.

One of the problems with it being illegal is you cant make a choice as to which strain youre after very easily.

My brother takes cbd oil for anxiety and says it works, but i couldnt notice any real difference for me, but its hard for me to say as ive been on and off proper anxiety meds, anti ds and and things and also got more experience with actual cannabis than him, so need something stronger than cbd.

Lots of people swear by it though.
Does anyone know why it tastes so gross though. Normal cannabis oil doesnt taste like that
