To be pissed off with DH for watching the game in the pub tonight?

I'm quite excited about tonight's match, and as far as I knew, we were all watching it at home. But I just called DH and he said "oh, I'll probably go to the pub to watch it. We have 6yo twins, so one of us has to stay at home. So that's me then :(
He's the bigger football fan, but it's the world bloody cup so I'm interested too. I'd love to be in a pub, but at least have another adult to share the experience with. If he'd asked if I'd minded, I'd be slightly less annoyed.

Have you actually said this to him?

YouTheCat · 11/07/2018 16:35

YANBU

How about, if they win, you get to go to the pub for the final and leave him at home?

FFSJake · 11/07/2018 16:35

Not at all. Selfish fucker Angry

gamerchick · 11/07/2018 16:36

I wish mine would go to the pub to watch it.

Have you said all that too him? Can you maybe get a sitter and go with him? It's a bit shit he didn't consider you if he knew you wanted to watch it.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 11/07/2018 16:36

Tell him it's his turn to stay at home if they make it to the final. Grin

Pickleypickles · 11/07/2018 16:36

YANBU have you told him you would prefer not to watch it alone? Or could you all go the pub for the first half and then all watch the second half at home?

Vagabond · 11/07/2018 16:37

Get a sitter and join him!

chickedychicked · 11/07/2018 16:37

YANBU. I'M the same, not usually fussed about football however I watch all the world cup matches and obviously will be watching today with my DSs. I don't know where DP is watching but I have a feeling he will be at his cousins house without even giving me a second thought and that's makes me a bit sad.

TheGoldenWolfFleece · 11/07/2018 16:38

Judging by how these threads normally go you'll pretend to him that it's fine and you don't mind if he goes out when actually you do. If you don't want him to go to the pub then tell him so. Get some beers and pizza in and watch it at home with him. Unless you tell him how you feel how's he supposed to know?

Timeisslippingaway · 11/07/2018 16:39

You should have just said well who will look after the kids, I have already made plans to go to the pub to watch it.

AuntieStella · 11/07/2018 16:39

Loads of MNetters have been posting about how much they hate the footie, or are so unaware of current events that they've only just noticed it's on.

Do you happen to know any of these people in RL? Because they may well be free to babysit.

meditrina · 11/07/2018 16:40

Tell him it's his turn to stay at home if they make it to the final.

Spot on!!

Jeezoh · 11/07/2018 16:40

I’d be pissed off that he’s designated you as the default parent who’ll have the children. I’d say something to him, no pint stewing. Just tell him the next England match is your turn for the pub while he stays at home.

sussexbelleofthevball · 11/07/2018 16:42

Oh yes I told him! I was really annoyed at the casual way he said it too, no "I hope you don't mind but I'd rather..."

" Tell him it's his turn to stay at home if they make it to the final"

Do this!
It's like the ultimate game of 'chicken' crossed with 'double or quits'

(Only works if he's an honourable man, though)

Busy77 · 11/07/2018 16:42

Haha so Sunday maybe!!

sussexbelleofthevball · 11/07/2018 16:44

No, no one to babysit unfortunately.
And we're watching the final with friends (and kids) at a big screen in town so no bargaining chips there :(

Because men should actually be able to reverse the situation in their own head and think how they would feel if it was their wife changing plans on them. This attitude men are to dim to actually realise when they are doing something that would piss their family off is just annoying.

NewYearNewMe18 · 11/07/2018 16:44

Where would he normally watch at match? at home, or with his mates?

If he's the football fan you're just band-waggoning because its an important match then YABVU.

Semster · 11/07/2018 16:44

I'd probably reply with something along the lines of how excited the twins are that they'll be watching it at the pub with him.

sussexbelleofthevball · 11/07/2018 16:49

New year I've watched all the England matches from this and previous world cups for as long as I remember. I'm just not that bothered about Premier league stuff.

Take the kids to the pub too.

Shoxfordian · 11/07/2018 16:56

Yeah take the kids to the pub too

Shadow1986 · 11/07/2018 16:59

I think a lot of us will be in the same boat tonight! I’m interested too but as the lesser football fan, he’s gone out and I am watching at home with the kids!
