To be pissed off with DH for watching the game in the pub tonight?

I'm quite excited about tonight's match, and as far as I knew, we were all watching it at home. But I just called DH and he said "oh, I'll probably go to the pub to watch it. We have 6yo twins, so one of us has to stay at home. So that's me then :(
He's the bigger football fan, but it's the world bloody cup so I'm interested too. I'd love to be in a pub, but at least have another adult to share the experience with. If he'd asked if I'd minded, I'd be slightly less annoyed.

I'm so happy mine isn't here watching it AND i don't even mind if thy win as he's not here on sunday either 💃🏻🤣

OP my friend (who is admittedly not what i personallly aspire to) is taking here children (inc x1 6yo) along to the pub (does this often... her standards are debatable)

I guess given you have plans for the final you should watch the semi on Saturday at the pub. Use the exact same wording. This would annoy me too and dh would have to be very very nice to still go after saying that, as I’ve been pretty clear on what I think of being the default parent.

timeisnotaline · 11/07/2018 20:04

But also I hope you did say clearly what you thought of his approach! I’m not the default person who looks after your children 24/7 unless it suits you to take a turn.

WhiteWalkerWife · 11/07/2018 20:19

Yanbu. You told him and he still went?

Im happy to be in the bath and not be a part of it while dh and dc and his brother cheer it on, but if i wanted to watch and he said 'nope, my time' i would be furious

penguinsnpandas · 11/07/2018 20:19

You should tell him you're going to the pub to watch the final and he won't mind being home with the twins? Grin

penguinsnpandas · 11/07/2018 20:21

Sorry didn't see you had plans though I would still say that saying you've had a change of plan.

waterlily200 · 11/07/2018 20:29

Mine declared he was off to Russia after the quarter final win. He's there right now and I'm home with the kids! So it could be worse.

I agree though if you support them it's nicer to do it with company.

Nooblynoo · 11/07/2018 20:32

If you think he is being unreasonable then clearly he is!

Sittingonaspindryer · 11/07/2018 20:36

@waterlily200 Shock hope that hasn't scuppered family holidays etc due to him using up annual leave. That would give me the absolute rage!

waterlily200 · 11/07/2018 21:36

He left after work yesterday and will be back tomorrow so he's using 1 leave day and one leui day. It won't mess with anything we had planned. He used to go to every game but hasn't been in 2 years because of having kids and life being busy. He's said it's the last time he just had to see it. He means it and it was important to him. But still not loads of notice Brew
