Hi hoping someone can help. My garden backs onto a private hospital and there are large trees covering the view. However there is a gap at the end where the trees meet at a point and as this is higher if people are up there they can see right down into our garden and if our french doors are open into the house.

This hasn't been a massive problem before as there were just bins there so rarely people out there, however there has been some building work and now there is some sort of seating area there. I think maybe a smoking area for staff. I don't want people being able to peer down into my garden it is like a second living room to us.

I have emailed the hospital and asked them to put up a shield to block the view but not heard back. AIBU to ask what else I can do if they refuse.

It would be easier for them to screen it than you, so if the first email was ignored I'd press the issue and try a couple of phone calls.

Do your trees look like they need a water op? That hose pipe may not be popular...

Put some willow screening up? Plant a tree to fill the gap?

You're the one with the issue, take a bit of ownership??

I doubt the hospital will be willing to relocate the smoking area just because people may look into your back garden . How close is you garden to the shelter ? if it is not finished yet you may find that the put a back / side on it so it will its back towards your garden so not a issue .

Failing that can you put up a higher fence / plant bushes / grow creeping plants like Ivy or blackberries to cover the space .

Ha good idea, although the trees are on their land so i'm not sure I would get away with it.

There is no real way we could screen it off as it is high up. We would have to erect a wall higher that our house.

Maybe try mentioning that you could potentially overhear confidential information if staff are smoking and chatting there.
