AIBU to ask WTF is this in my food?

Ok, so I’m not stupid and have a damn good idea what it could be but I’ve been assured by staff it’s simply a fly’s wing upon closer inspection by themselves. I was polite, very quiet and didn’t make a fuss at all but WIBU to contact our local council section for this kind of thing? Hubby says I should name and shame but I’m far more conscious and empathetic of the impact it would have on this business than he is 🙄😉 so don’t troll me for his useless suggestion! I can’t even think about ever eating cheesey chips with beans on again 🤢
I found it midway through my meal as I’m a methodical eater (from outside to in -freak I know 😳) so I had eaten a third before I split the middle apart to find the intruder. They searched the kitchens and found nothing but I’m guessing they would say that. It was definitely in the chips but the cheese is then added and it’s nuked with the beans slung on after so it could’ve come from the cheese rather than the kitchen itself. It’s doubly worse as I suffer from emetophobia (severely scared of puking) so I’ve spent the whole day doing my breathing exercises and chomping extra strong mints! WWYD?

Hmmm looks like a maggot.

Cornettoninja · 09/07/2018 18:29

A fly wing in this weather? I think it would be harsh to report them tbh.

But your picture has made me hungry.

bionicnemonic · 09/07/2018 18:32

Some sort of larvae I would think. It is on the top so I would imagine it fell in after the food had been prepared

AnduinsGirl · 09/07/2018 18:32

Eurgh, it looks like an empty fly pupa :(

CuriousaboutSamphire · 09/07/2018 18:34

It's not a wing, it is a pupae case. Strongly worded letter to the manager / owner / CEO and maybe a chat with your local council team...

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 09/07/2018 18:34

Looks more like a larvae of something than a wing. Hmmm, not sure I’d report but on the other hand if it is a larvae it’s more likely to be in their kitchens than a random fly wing floating in.

Pardalis · 09/07/2018 18:35

It's an empty casing from some kind of larvae. Not going to kill you but wondering where the others/grown up versions are!

KarmaStar · 09/07/2018 18:59

Maggot/larvae sorry OP keep eating the mints.

Maelstrop · 09/07/2018 19:04

Looks like the body/body case of a small insect, not a wing.

JamPasty · 09/07/2018 19:11

I'd report for that, that's grim. Sorry

Weedsnseeds1 · 09/07/2018 19:48

It's an immature cockroach. Sorry.

squeelof1 · 09/07/2018 20:59

What's the white milky looking stuff in the middle?
If that's cheese that's some weird looking cheese, I'd be complaining about that forget the insect part lol.

But yeah I'd complain that thing shouldn't be in it.

Blackteadrinker77 · 09/07/2018 21:04

That's mouse shit surely?

Singingtherapy · 09/07/2018 21:13

No idea, but before enlarging the picture I thought the slightly squashed bean, (centre left ) looked like a baby sucking its thumb!

halfwitpicker · 09/07/2018 21:15

Those orange things?

Beans?

ShowOfHands · 09/07/2018 21:26

I've just seen this exact photograph on my local community noticeboard. We must live near to each other op. I think I might need to avoid any local establishments which serve cheesy chips.

Doodlesplodge17 · 09/07/2018 21:27

squeelof1 someone on my crapbook says it looked like spunk but yes, it’s cheese 🤣

I thought the title was 'What's this in my foot'. I was deeply disappointed Sad
Looks like a casing of some kind OP, I doubt it'll do you any harm.

Doodlesplodge17 · 09/07/2018 22:05

If you’re near the coldest place in Dirty Dezza ShowOfHands then deffo avoid this establishment [sick]

ShowOfHands · 10/07/2018 09:38

Bleurgh. I know where you mean. I might just avoid the town entirely (I'm in a village slightly west up the a47) and find that between the Tesco roundabout traffic and the disenfranchised youth loitering in the park near Morrisons, I'm happy to stay away!

Hope you're feeling okay today. I'm an emetophobe too and this would send me in a right spin.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 10/07/2018 09:41

To be honest the look of that meal makes me feel more sick than the larvae/pupa/fly thing.

Doodlesplodge17 · 10/07/2018 14:50

Good job you didn’t have to eat it then!
