Urgh I’m so annoyed! Going Perranporth a week today. Weather looks rubbish!! The following week it goes nice again! Think I’m going to cry if it rains every day!

Still sunny and beautiful in this corner of Cornwall today!

SilverHairedCat · 12/07/2018 18:24

Boiling in South East Cornwall.

This storm / weather page on Facebook is pretty good for the weather forecast across Cornwall and Devon:

Ah thank you!! Forecast says rain every day still. It’s stressing me out 😂🙈

I feel your pain. We are going a week Friday when school breaks up. Just know it will rain.

But 22 is very pleasant!! Let’s just focus on that. I am going to be spending the majority of my time in a wetsuit anyway - at least the dip in the weather conditions means that hopefully the sea wont be quite as crowded. Onwards and upwards, OP and best of luck on the north coast (perhaps we will swim past each other, unbeknown!)

"UPDATE ON EX TROPICAL STORM CHRIS

Hi everyone.

Yesterday I explained there are two possible scenarios.

I've been looking at the latest model data and can confirm Chris will be taking the first scenario and making it's self felt chiefly for northern areas of the UK during Monday, bringing with it a pulse of rain.

For us in the SW, we will see cloudier sky's and the chance of patchy light showery rain if any at all.

GENERAL OUTLOOK:
The early outlook for next week is fresher more showery conditions with warm sunny spells in between and the added risk of the odd thunderstorm possible just about anywhere.

A full detailed forecast on Saturday evening will be released for the forthcoming week ahead.

Kind regards

Dean

22c is WARM!! that's the latest update on next week BTW, keep watching the page.

LadyLoveYourWhat · 13/07/2018 09:01

Met Office has it nicer than that - the BBC uses a different weather company for their forecasts, so you might want to go to the horse's mouth. The Met Office app has a rain map so you can see where the rain is probably going to be, I find it easier to work out how likely it's going to rain by looking at whether there's a big band of rain predicted, or showery blobs.

Rain expected every day of our holiday!!

There's no such thing as bad weather; just bad clothing choices :) :)

fussychica · 13/07/2018 09:40

Often in Cornwall if the weather is shite on the north coast it will be OK on the south and vice versa.
Fingers crossed you have a great holiday, whatever the weather.

Branleuse · 13/07/2018 09:44

That is not a bad forecast for a UK holiday at all OP. That just looks like it will be warm with some cloud cover

Branleuse · 13/07/2018 09:45

and tbh, with cornwall, you can actually just chase the sun and check the forecast on the other side of the coast or in a different town and go there for the day if it looks sunnier

FuzzyCustard · 13/07/2018 19:01

silverhairedcat I use Stormchasers too!
It's been another hot sunny glorious day here. I swam in the sea pool and it was fab.

knittingdad · 13/07/2018 19:08

Lots of sun in the Met Office forecasts for next week.

BBC forecasts now use the US weather model which is not as good. The US Navy and USAF both pay the Met Office for their forecasts.

SilverHairedCat · 19/07/2018 14:11

Hi @Mummysharkdoodoodoo I'm guessing you've been having a lovely, mostly sunny week so far? All of about 2 minutes of rain (aggregated) on the South coast all week!

birdladyfromhomealone · 19/07/2018 14:22

I am currently in Boscastle North Cornwall ( see my holiday parking thread) Sunday was boiling and we and the dogs swam in thde sea and river.
Monday it rained all morning and was overcast in the afternoon
Tuesday was overcast and I was freezing in summer clothes.
yesterday was a warmer day sun and cloud.
Tioday bloody boiling again
Hope it stays as I brought nothing but shorts and T.shirts and I have been COLD!!!

SilverHairedCat · 19/07/2018 14:36

Birdlady, looks like you need to travel further afield from the north coast to follow the weather. I can honestly say we've not had that here at all. I live near Looe (not going to out my location!).

Mummysharkdoodoodoo · 19/07/2018 19:03

It’s been amazing! I’m so burnt :( lol

OP posts:
FuzzyCustard · 19/07/2018 19:25

I'm about 10 miles up the road from Boscastle and it has been glorious all week, bar a few clouds on Monday morning! The weather here is very localised.

BeansandSausages · 19/07/2018 21:54

We went to Cornwall once. Peed it down. Had a cracking time! Kids didnt give a crap. Just pack well.

rookiemere · 20/07/2018 08:55

Can I just update to say that we've been having amazing weather here in Bude all week so far. Almost run out of sun screen and too hot to use the tennis court on the property, am forcing myself to endure the hit tub heat Wink. So wonderful in UK when you get good weather

CherryPavlova · 20/07/2018 09:12

We didn’t do properly hot abroad when the children were young (just European Cenre Parcs and RoI). Most of our summers were spent in the Isle of Wight or Lake District. It rained a lot. We expected and planned for rain and any sun was a bonus.
Planning is key to a pleasant and relaxing holiday. It’s easier in blistering heat when the children will swim happily all day and the heat makes high energy activities unnecessary.
I always had a sort of programme ( not rigid or inflexible because the sun will appear) but sufficient to avoid the “It’s boring” chanting.
We worked out how often we could afford to eat out, when we might have a takeaway and planned ‘fun’ meals in that children could help prepare.
We researched cinemas, local events such as fetes (grim but children love them), museum activities, sports centres. Then a big trip such as a theme park ( if you can call Robin Hill a theme park) or wildlife park. It was easier to have a plan we didn’t use.
We spent most of our time on IOW on beach but hired a beach hut to keep things dry and ensure sufficient warm clothes/dry towels. I might suggest a large beach tent/gazebo as a base where you can shelter from shower and don’t have to rush to pack up as soon as it starts spitting. Provides shelter from sun, a highly visible base and changing facilities too. The sea is warm, very warm. They can have surf lessons and go kayaking (depending on age) or coasteering. Hire bicycles and picnic. Plan nice walks. If they’re old enough go swimming at night/ in evening and have a BBQ on the beach.
It will be lovely...I’m almost wanting to join you!
