For putting cheese in an egg McMuffin!

Late getting up this morning so went through a drive through for breakfast. Apparently normal menu doesn’t open till later so opted for an egg McMuffin and it has cheese in it. I still ate it but it’s weird. Why would you put cheese in it? Confused Grin

YABU, cheese and egg go great together.

SoupDragon · 09/07/2018 11:39

Me: aibu
Everyone: yes
Me: your all wrong :o

Just how a proper AIBU should go!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/07/2018 11:41

Yes real cheese and egg is a great combination same with burgers

Plastic slices with a flavour of cheese isn’t

SargeantAngua · 09/07/2018 11:43

You can keep your nasty mcmuffins. I just had a bowl of porridge from Tebay services (the nice independent one in the Lakes). The pot had clearly been sitting all morning for the porridge to get so thick and develop such a skin on top. It was glorious! Honey and sultanas were added, in case you feared it was too healthy. Perfect Wink

Very weird! Hate fast food from places like McDonalds, but toasted sandwich with avocado, fried egg and grated (bastard strong) cheddar is wonderful!

allthefuckery · 09/07/2018 11:45

I always ask for no cheese. I love a bacon and egg muffin with a coffee

allthefuckery · 09/07/2018 11:47

Also how good are hot cakes covered in syrup

mostdays · 09/07/2018 11:48

Because it's lush. I was v disappointed to learn that Greggs don't put cheese in their omelette roll. Everywhere else (Burger King, McDonalds, Subway and Bap off the top of my head) understand that there needs to be cheese with the egg, so why are Greggs being so wrong?

BadgersBum · 09/07/2018 11:49

First day of my diet here, I really shouldn't have opened this thread. I just got up and looked in the office biscuit tin, thankfully it was empty and wouldn't have been the same as a McD's breakfast anyway.

Hippee · 09/07/2018 11:50

I love the "customise" button at McDonalds - it means I can have a Big Mac without the nasty cheese.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 09/07/2018 12:12

How about quiche, OP? Do you have any strong feelings you would like to get off your chest about quiche?

neveradullmoment99 · 09/07/2018 12:12

A cheese and onion omelette is delicious. :)

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 09/07/2018 12:13

I agree. I dislike their breakfasts for this exact reason!

Now a quarter pounder with cheese however...

Attic14 · 09/07/2018 12:15

Because Greggs are too busy putting cheese in other stuff that didnt need it in the first place.
I'm so bitter about the old sausage and bean bake. It didnt need the cheese. Grin

DeadGood · 09/07/2018 12:21

Cheese omelette
Croque Madame
Cheese souffle
Florentine Pizza
Frittata/spanish omelette with cheese
One of many kinds of quiche

Just a few of the very standard recipes that include egg and cheese that I can think of off the top of my head.

YANBU not to like the combination, but YABU to be shocked that it exists. It's very very common.

Elliebobbins · 09/07/2018 12:23

You can request it without cheese. It means they make it to order so its nice and warm too.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 09/07/2018 12:25

it means I can have a Big Mac without the nasty cheese.

I do this too! Smile

Greggs are heroes for no cheese in the breakfast stuff. Love egg, don't mind cheese sometimes, but not together for breakfast.

Imchlibob · 09/07/2018 12:28

I love cheese and egg. my favourite breakfast is scrambled eggs with sautéed mushrooms, lumps of avocado and little cubes of strong cheddar cheese stirred in just before serving so that the cheese just starts to melt at the edges but doesn't get stirred into the mix uniformly.

sashh · 09/07/2018 12:33

But cheese and eggs are made to go together.

Scrambled egg with a bit of cheese, much better.
Quiche, souffle, cheese omelette...

OliviaStabler · 09/07/2018 12:38

I love a sausage and egg McMuffin breakfast. I only have it a few times a year but it is a lovely treat!

I also really like the kiosks you can order from. Much easier than figuring out which queue to get into and finding yourself standing behind the person who is at the till but still hasn't decided what they want Hmm

AlexaAmbidextra · 09/07/2018 12:40

McDs have stopped doing the big breakfast? What fuckery is this? Twats. Angry

OliviaStabler · 09/07/2018 12:47

If I get McDonalds breakfast, I get a sausage bagel meal with no cheese as it's the closest thing to the Big Breakfast, which was my previous favourite, that they don't do any more.

Have they replaced it with that breakfast wrap thing?

Tjzmummabear · 09/07/2018 12:50

Tebay services is a considerable distance from the Lakes. It's 11 miles from Kendal for starters... which means it is 19 from Windermere... Porridge sounds nice tho

BarbaraofSevillle · 09/07/2018 12:53

I don't know. I've tried the breakfast wrap but the potato thing you get in there is like a tiny imitation hash brown, so it all feels a bit small. If you get a wrap meal, they don't give you a separate hash brown either, like you get with a sausage bagel.

Alexa

They haven't done the Big Breakfast for over 2 years and it was a sad day the day I found that out. Apparently, it was to streamline their cooking processes as the scrambled eggs were more time consuming/complicated than the omelette that replaced it.

But the sausage bagel, no cheese with hash brown meal is effectively the same food except the eggs are in an omelette and you get a bagel instead of a muffin, so it's far from the end of the world.

Shumpalumpa · 09/07/2018 13:02

Maybe they put cheese in it so customers didn't feel shortchanged that they were paying the same price for as a Bacon/Sausage egg McMuffin?

but bacon

but cancer. Bacon is a group 1 carcinogen. You should be more disgusted by the nitrates in your bacon than an egg and cheese combo.
