To let rip at my neighbour tomorrow?

Very very grumpy right now.

Live in a busy and somewhat noisy street but kind of used to it. However, around 9.45 tonight an alarm of some kind started going off in a nearby house. Its piercingly loud even with the windows shut.

I went out after an hour and tracked it down to an empty house down the street that's being done up. None of its windows are open but it can still be heard even over the TV. Can't see a burglar alarm anywhere and it's not a fire alarm.

I'm knackered, kids finally got to sleep but I'm now raging. I've opened the windows again cos I can still hear it if they're shut and it's too hot anyway.

Bleep Bleep Bleep....Bleep bleep fucking Bleep. He's gonna get a frigging mouthfull when he turns up in morning Angry

It's not the first time either. Woke us all up at around 5am a few days ago but just assumed it was someone's alarm to get them up for work.

Almost three hours of it now.....

Actually, WIBU to kick his door down to find the bloody thing and smash it up? I could claim insanity.....

Best idea would be to get Police to investigate if it is a burglar or a fire and if doors need to be kicked down better a well booted foot than your delicate tootsies!

Tomorrowiscancelled · 09/07/2018 00:45

Fell like turning green and ripping the door off its hinges!

Would the police even be bothered? It can't be a fire after all this time with no physical signs

Okay full apologies in advance if Ive got the wrong end of the stick here, but from what I read.

You have new neighbours moving in who are reneventing an empty house ready to move in. They've finished for the night and gone home and for some reason the alarm is going off. They most probably know nothing about it.
You go out ranting and raving. You're going to get off on the wrong foot and they can call it intimidation. I get there's nothing more annoying. I've been kept awake by bloody alarms myself but I guarantee ranting and charging around like a rhino will solve nothing.

schoty77 · 09/07/2018 00:51

So.. they don't know the alarm is going of? Maybe inform them of the problem before going in there yelling at them. If you came to my house giving me a 'frigging mouthful' as you have said, and I had no idea what you were going on about, I'd call the police. Chill out.

Tomorrowiscancelled · 09/07/2018 00:56

Yes you have the wrong end of the stick - it's completly lighthearted but infuriating all the same. I'm not the type to 'charge up like a rhino' as you put it.

It's someone doing the house up to sell on, they arn't moving in. It's already been several months of late banging and early deliveries/skip removals etc and now this alarm. Can wait til they're done as it will look amazing but for tonight I want to vent!

When I read the threat title, I thought your neighbour had farted at your place Blush

schoty77 · 09/07/2018 01:03

I don't think anything of what you've posted sounds 'lighthearted'. Perhaps satire is what you were going for, but that's not what's coming across.

Bleep Bleep Bleep....Bleep bleep fucking Bleep. He's gonna get a frigging mouthfull when he turns up in morning

Hmm ??

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/07/2018 01:04

Well pardon me for not being able to read minds.
You need to write light hearted on your thread title if you don't want people to think you sOund aggressive.

ExecutiveDiamondBossBabeHun · 09/07/2018 01:13

Call your council and 101 if it is a burglar alarm they can sometimes get them turned off.

sashh · 09/07/2018 01:16

Get 'the noise app' and record it, yo can use it for evidence for your council.

Oooh I had this one year. Neighbour was 150 miles away.

Tigger365 · 09/07/2018 01:26

Considered the possibility that it may be a CO alarm? Maybe call your local fire station (not 999) to come out and inspect?

FreeofPills · 09/07/2018 01:45

I think you can legitimately call the non emergency number for that

Have they got scaffolding up, could that be alarmed? (Sounds funny)

I would be very annoyed, don't know why people are having a go. And these people have subjected you to a bunch of noise already. Go round with the sweet smile and tell them how much they have pissed you off.

Tomorrowiscancelled · 09/07/2018 01:52

Thanks Cheetoburrito and FreeofPills
Its still going off.

No scafolding. I've googled local police, on the subject of alarms it says if there's no signs of intruders or fire then to contact the council instead.

AmericanEskimoDoge · 09/07/2018 02:14

If it doesn't result in someone (fire, police) from coming out to investigate, the alarm is pointless until they are living in the house. Under the circumstances, maybe they'd be open to turning it off until they actually move in.

everydaymum · 09/07/2018 02:24

Drop a note into the house to let them know about the alarm - they probably have no idea. Our neighbours dogs were going mental at all hours and the neighbours didn't know because they were out. Once we made them aware they sorted it out and we haven't had a problem since.

Environmental Health at your local authority are your friends.

AfterSchoolWorry · 09/07/2018 03:11

Alarm is supposed to turn off after 20 minutes. That's absolutely disgraceful.

Could be scaffolding? It's sometimes alarmed. One went off in my street a few weeks ago - at 3am on intermittently after that. Empty house so no one to do anything about it.
