Aibu to feel disgusted by this?

Am I weird for being disgusted by this?

Family over the road, man, woman, two young dc.

Just now the dad was lying on the front lawn, no shirt on, shorts hanging halfway down his arse, clearly pissed out of his face, throwing up, then he staggered up, went inside an got a tshirt.

He then came back outside, left his front door wide open, climbed onto next doors car and then up onto his garage roof. Staggering all over the garage roof tripping over before dropping off the other end into his back garden. I'm amazed he hasn't broke his legs.

His wife/girlfriend then came back with the two dc probably to find him unconscious in the back garden.

Dh thought it was hilarious, I was pretty disgusted. Thank fuck dh doesn't get in that state or I wouldn't be with him tbh.

I'm not sure if it's relevant I had a parent with a drink problem so this may cloud my judgement, but I don't think it's 'normal' for a grown man to get in such a state?

Yeah that's vile. Great show for his kids.

Wuss2018 · 07/07/2018 20:43

We've just won the football
There will grown men (and women) like this across the country. He wasn't doing you any harm was he?

He'd have done his children plenty of harm if he'd fallen off that roof (which he easily could have).

I also think it would be pretty frightening for children to see there parent in that state.

Grim. Not sure why the football matters? It's awful behaviour for his children to witness, I also had parents with drink problems and it is fucking awful to come home to. We minimise this behaviour as normal too much in this country.

Tractorprincess · 07/07/2018 20:46

Grim behaviour and football is no excuse. Let’s hope it was a one off, he feels like s**t in the morning and doesn’t repeat it.

Oliversmumsarmy · 07/07/2018 20:46

I am amazed at his dexterity

balljuggla · 07/07/2018 20:47

YANBU. It's revolting behaviour. My Dad was fond of a drink too so I have zero tolerance for that kind of thing. We may have won the footy but carrying on like that in front of children is disgusting.

Racecardriver · 07/07/2018 20:48

YANBU at all. Disgusting behavior from anyone at any time.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/07/2018 20:48

I don't envy his bloody future hang over.
I can tell you.
Mind you with the result of the game.
I very much doubt he'll be the first last or only person to be paraletic drunk tonight.

Tractorprincess · 07/07/2018 20:51

Also no he wasn't directly affecting me but I am affected by drunks but I realise we have a boozing culture in this country.

We are a big football family (two footy mad sons) and manage to watch it without getting like that. Dh has a couple of beers and you'd never even know.

Tipsy and merry is one thing but drunk out your face throwing up in the garden is too much especially when you've dc in the house (imo).

Bananalanacake · 07/07/2018 20:57

You're right. Kids should never have to witness that. I never saw my parents drunk so grew up thinking this was the norm. Sad to read on here so many people with alcoholics for parentsSad

opinionatedfreak · 07/07/2018 21:13

Another child of a drinker. Behaviour like this makes me deeply uncomfortble. Hypocritically I like a drink myself but only drink more than a couple of glasses of wine in social situations I "trust".

Eg. When work nights out get too leer you I make my excuses and leave. Can't cope with the unpredictability. Whereas with friends I know I happily stay until the dregs of events.....

Stormy76 · 07/07/2018 21:14

It's fine to celebrate but being so drunk you are vomiting in your front garden....... not sure I understand his Spider-Man routine but clearly he was so off his face he didn't know what he was doing

Bramble71 · 07/07/2018 21:17

It is pretty awful to be in that state in front of your kids, and in front of the street for that matter. I think I would feel just like you do, OP.

Bet he has an awful hangover tomorrow. LOL.

wagil · 07/07/2018 21:17

I wonder why he did that, even drunks have reasons. Perhaps he couldn't find the back door key and he wanted to get into the garden

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/07/2018 21:17

Why would England winning a quarter final mean puking over your garden, clambering over other people’s cars and nearly killing yourself is in any way ok??? Wtf happens if they win the final? What a pathetic excuse for a man he is!

Tractorprincess · 07/07/2018 21:19

Well they're now having a domestic, her running off down the road with one child, him running after her barefoot. He's covered in scratches.

I just think if you absolutely must get in that state, do it when your dc aren't around. Though I can't really understand why anyone would want to.

OP posts:
HellenaHandbasket · 07/07/2018 21:20

Yup, I would judge.

BrutusMcDogface · 07/07/2018 21:20

You're right. It's disgusting behaviour. I'm also the child of a useless waste of space alcoholic "father" and I was haunted for many, many years by his behaviour.

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/07/2018 21:23

That’s terrible for her and for the children. The campaign about domestic violence during football tournaments is so upsetting. Whether or not this is a violent man, it highlights how much misery something that should be a celebration can bring to families. Why do people use football as an excuse for this kind of awful, debasing and disgraceful behaviour? It’s hardly demonstrating your national pride, is it?!

greathat · 07/07/2018 21:23

YANBU. Its terrible parenting to let his kids be exposed to this sort of behaviour. The domestic doesn't sound great either

Pflt · 07/07/2018 21:25

@tractorprincess I read something on another thread a few weeks back about domestic violence (in Scotland?) and it increasing when there was a big match on. If the home team lost the match, it increased. If it won the match, DV increased even further.

People really shouldn’t drink to excess, whatever the reason. YANBU and your DH needs to think about why he finds it funny and perhaps ask himself whether the man’s partner and children find it quite so amusing.

FishingIsNotASport · 07/07/2018 21:27

Of course you are not being unreasonable. It's a sad reflection on how low our society has sunk that you even have to question your judgement. The man is a disgrace, football or not.
