To think smoking cannabis in the presence of children is bad?

I'm just wondering if i might be out of step here..

Well if you are so am I.

Cismyass · 07/07/2018 18:31

Smoking cannabis or indeed taking any drugs in front of children is the pinacle of most excellent parenting and something we all should aspire to. Infact i often ask DD(4) if she'd care to join me. Hmm

anotherangel2 · 07/07/2018 18:31

Yep. Forgot the moral angle, being a bad example etc. The second hand smoke is enough to make it a big no.

Wolfiefan · 07/07/2018 18:31

Out of step with law abiding people? No.
With stoners? I suspect you are.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 07/07/2018 18:33

I'm not a stoner - was when I was younger. I like cannabis and have no issue with people smoking it. But I don't like it being smoked around children.

Limpopobongo · 07/07/2018 18:39

I only ask as i wonder if it might be detrimental to childrens health and also of course there is the issue of their inability to consent. A bit like circumcision.

KellyBailey · 07/07/2018 18:42

I don't approve of smoking dope around children but comparing it to circumcision is ridiculous IMHO.

TheQueef · 07/07/2018 18:42

No one smokes anything around kids if they have any sense.

Do you mean smoking around the kids or a neighbour 10 houses down in their shed?

gamerwidow · 07/07/2018 18:43

I don't mind people smoking cannabis and my DH smokes at the weekend but never in front of the kids. In the same way I don't think getting drunk around kids is on either and I only drink when DD is in bed or I'm out with friends for this reason

glintandglide · 07/07/2018 18:44

I don’t really know enough about it tbh. I have friends who smoke around, but away from their children (ie at the back of the garden whilst the children are indoors) I don’t personally smoke at all but hard to see the harm?

itsbritneybiatch · 07/07/2018 18:44

Agree with @gamerwidow

itsbritneybiatch · 07/07/2018 18:46

Children once they become a certain age I.e teens will see this as the majority try it at some point. Or see someone else their age doing it.

You should keep them innocent of that for as long as possible.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 07/07/2018 18:47
Hmm
CaptainKirkssparetupee · 07/07/2018 18:48

I only ask as i wonder if it might be detrimental to childrens health and also of course there is the issue of their inability to consent. A bit like circumcision.

Yes op they are the same.

NoNotheresnolyrics · 07/07/2018 18:49

I saw a heavily pregnant woman on a beach with a baby and a toddler, rolling and smoking a joint. No one battered an eyelid. I was so shocked!

Limpopobongo · 07/07/2018 18:49

To be clear, i mean smoking it and emitting fumes in such a way that children in the vicinity will inhale it and ,because of their age, are unable to consent to the inhalation of an illegal substance in much the same way as a male infant is assaulted during circumcision and cannot consent.

OP posts:
TheQueef · 07/07/2018 18:53

Being able to smell it isn't the same as inhaling and being intoxicated by.
You can smell alcohol and not be intoxicated.
But you already know that......
You're just being disingenuous aren't you?

Timeisslippingaway · 07/07/2018 18:57

Ok for a start, a lot of circumsisions are carried out for medical reasons, as are a lot of operations, so are beneficial to the child in the long run. Smoking anything of any kind where the child will inhale the second hand smoke is not beneficial. I'm not really sure why you are asking this OP. What is the point of your post. Are you smoking weed around your children and looking for reassurance that it's ok? Is it someone you know?

Limpopobongo · 07/07/2018 18:58

The very fact that it can be smelled means it is within the air in the vicinity of the nose and mouth and thus by default will be inhaled.

There are many airborne substances which are unavoidable such as traffic fumes, cow dung in the country, new mown grass etc etc

The law seeks to regulate stuff such as traffic fumes because clearly they are detrimental to health. People have protests about it.

I am talking about the rights of the child, the child's inability to consent and also the entrainment of a noxious illegal drug into the child's respiratory tract and by default, the child's bloodstream.

TheQueef · 07/07/2018 18:58

Like I said.....

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 07/07/2018 19:02

So you are saying seocnd hand smoke and passive smoking is bad?

Yes, i'm not sure anyone is going to disagree with you.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 07/07/2018 19:05

It's why most people don't smoke, even regular tobacco, around children.

Metoodear · 07/07/2018 19:09

Yep

gamerwidow · 07/07/2018 19:21

The cannabis part is a red herring, of course passive smoking of anything is bad for kids which is which is why smoking isn't allowed outside schools etc.

Timeisslippingaway · 07/07/2018 19:39

So you are just stating a fact OP? Was there any other point to your post?
