To think my dh is pathetic about a doctor

So I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and having problems with my heart- palpatations etc. Yesterday I saw a doctor who did an ecg and I have to go back on Monday for another one and a heart echo with a cardiologist. My dh was helping me take the stickers off last night from under my breast and asked me if I had to take my bra off, and if it was a man or a woman. I told him it wasn't under wired so I left it on just undone and they just had to go slightly underneath to put the stickers on, and that it was a female midwife who undone/done up my bra but a male doctor who did the ecg. He suddenly got grumpy and said that was disrespectful and I should have asked for a female to do it, and that I need to ask for a female cardiologist on Monday Hmm I told him I just needed to see any doctor that was available and he's being pathetic, and he said I wouldn't like it if he had a female doctor look at his penis?? Apparently he's not BU as women are most likely to have affairs with doctors!
Aibu to think he is acting like a totally pathetic child over me getting medical help over an important issue that could potentially affect our unborn baby??

So is your dh going to wait for a female obstetrician if you have problems in child birth?
Cardiologists probably see tits every day.
Yes your dh is being weird. It's his problem, not yours.

lifechangesforever · 07/07/2018 15:27

His face will be a picture if you get a male midwife or need a Dr involved - however, I think I'd be questioning having him at the birth at all right now!

WineAndTiramisu · 07/07/2018 15:27

I think all the staff for my caesarian were male, apart from the o&g reg and I was naked from the waist down. He needs to sort this out in his head.

I don't know of a single doctor that has had an affair with a patient, it's not something that happens often. And I can quite easily see a penis at work without any sort of sexual thoughts at all... Grin

ijustwannadance · 07/07/2018 15:28

He is projecting and making it your fault.
Gobshite.

I was sent to breast clinic for a suspect lump at 34 weeks pregnant. Both consultants who examined me were men. My DP sat in waiting room worried about ME, not the men feeling my tits.

RafikiIsTheBest · 07/07/2018 15:29

Crikey! What nonsense.
And I think you have done well to not need a male doctor to do anything more 'intimate' than put on a few sticky pads and see you in a bra.

I don't think I could cope with the stress of something being wrong, possibly affecting my unborn baby and dealing with such ridiculousness. If he's that bothered he could always go with you, to you know actually support you, and chaperone you and the doctor to make sure you don't start making out mid-procedure.

I think his head would explode if you'd been through the test and examinations I've had, including an internal ultrasound, sphincter tests and vaginal swabs (all done by men).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/07/2018 15:29

he said I wouldn't like it if he had a female doctor look at his penis

Tell him to take a magnifying glass with him when he goes for his examination - only a tiny-willied man would feel so insecure to act like this.

topcat2014 · 07/07/2018 15:30

My DD was delivered via emergency C section. The surgeon was male.

Neither I, nor DW, gave a shit about the sex of the doctor.

Your DH needs to sort his head out.

KurriKurri · 07/07/2018 15:32

Well if he can't change his attitude, he'll have to be uninvited from the birth of your child - you're not going to want someone there who is going to make a fuss over the gender of the people taking care of you and your baby, you'll have enough to deal with.
He sounds like a complete idiot - and he needs to learn that you are the person who decides who looks at your body, not him.

Sevendown · 07/07/2018 15:32

Huge red flags here.

Is he controlling in other ways?

Is he possessive/get jealous easily?

How does he get on with your friends and family?

Does he encourage your career and leisure time?

Juells · 07/07/2018 15:32

That's his reaction to you having to see a cardiologist? That he's worried it will be a man? Confused

HectorlovesKiki · 07/07/2018 15:35

Me thinks DH needs a check up from the neck up.
What a complete & utter plonker.

Isawthelight · 07/07/2018 15:35

Shock Oh my...what a seriously weird thing for your DH to say. He needs a swift boot up the arse...from a man or a woman.

TheAntiBoop · 07/07/2018 15:35

How many people does he know who have had affairs with their doctors? And doesn't he think a cardiologist has seen a lot of boobs- does he have an affair with every woman he treats ot are your boobs particularly appealing? Does he think affairs start because someone has seen someone else's private parts? Does that mean neurologists are safe?

Not only does he come across as hard of thinking, but suggests he is projecting how he would feel if he were the doctor - which is disturbing as well

HyacinthsBucket70 · 07/07/2018 15:35

I was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago OP and had lots of ECGs done over 4 days. I can only recall one female nurse.... the rest were all male and all the Doctors were male. I didn't give a shit where they were sticking stickers - I wanted to know my heart was alright. As did my DH who was sat with me a lot of the time.

He's acting really badly OP. He does realise that obstetrics is very male dominated, and you stand a pretty high chance of a man seeing your foof at some point during delivery....................... is he going to be an arse about that too and demand a female Doctor when you or your baby could potentially be at risk?

Alicatz66 · 07/07/2018 15:38

Total knob

KlutzyDraconequus · 07/07/2018 15:38

AfterSchoolWorry

What a twat

I'll see your twat... snigger snigger and raise you a Cock Womble.

What a pathetic 'Man' you're with OP. How ever did you find him attractive enough to have a child with?

diddl · 07/07/2018 15:44

"he said I wouldn't like it if he had a female doctor look at his penis??"

Omg that is hilarious!

"So is your dh going to wait for a female obstetrician if you have problems in child birth?"

No because it isn't up to him!

Op, he sounds awful.

Has he never asked stuff like this before?

Crinkle77 · 07/07/2018 15:46

He is a tit.

Cheerbear23 · 07/07/2018 15:48

My DD was delivered via emergency C section. The surgeon was male.

Exactly - me too.
There was a lot of people in the room, lots of male doctors. I was uncovered from the boobs down at stages, whilst they prepared me and spoke to me. What’s he going to be like if you find yourself in this situation?

Celebelly · 07/07/2018 15:49

I'd find that really worrying tbh. It's a really troubled way of thinking.

So his pregnant wife has heart tests scheduled and his first concern is the doctor having a cock? I really hope he's just dealing with a massively stressful thing by obsessing about a minor detail, otherwise you have a huge problem.

NewGrandad · 07/07/2018 15:53

and he said I wouldn't like it if he had a female doctor look at his penis??

I had to get an ultrasound when I found a lump on a testicle. Two lovely female nurses carried it out. The highlight was when one of the nurses said "Can you hold your penis against your stomach please?" Still cracks my OH up when she thinks about it.

BTW I did not have an affair with any of the nurses.

Goldmandra · 07/07/2018 15:54

I am also wondering if he's controlling in other ways.

Has he isolated you from friends and family?

Does he take charge of money, keys, etc?

Does he make you feel guilty if you're not demonstrating that you are thinking of him every second of every day?

If not, that's great but I would be wary of that happening. He clearly sees you as a possession, rather than a person.

smallchanceofrain · 07/07/2018 15:55

Red flag! Big fecking red flag.
You're having a baby with this idiot? Really?!
I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy and birth OP. You might want to impress on the cockwomble baby daddy that if you need an obstetrician you'll be hoping for a good one, irrespective of gender - just in case he has issues about a male medic getting a thrill from being hands on with your naked bottom half as they're helping baby into the world.
