Our bin collection day is on Friday. We have weekly waste and fortnightly recycling and glass.

Today for the second time running. The recycling&glass weren't collected on Friday when they were supposed to be and instead the lorry crashed and banged its way along our road before 7 on the Saturday morning.

AIBU to be really pissed off at losing my only weekly lie in because they have woken me up on a day they're not even supposed to be here?

I would be thankful they came at all. If they miss our road here they don't come for another 2 weeks.

Worth contacting your council and asking why the recycling comes on an unscheduled day. Make up some excuse of why coming a day late is a nuisance for you e.g. putting the bins back when you have to go away for the weekend.

Maybe because of the heatwave they have been working at a slower pace and stopping for more breaks. You might be missing a lie in but they are having to miss a Saturday off to catch up and probably had to get up at 5 or something.
Or maybe they were delayed yesterday because they couldn't drive down certain roads because people had parked cars in dumb places and couldn't get through.
Or there was a problem with the dustcart and they had to return to the depot.
Yes it is annoying to be woken up but life can't stop because Saturday morning happens to be your day off.
