I have had it with the heat! I miss the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness! Anyone fancy an Autumn chat? Grin

I've found my people!

This thread is making the heat worse. But at least we're past the solstice and on our way to misty mornings, beautiful leaves and sunrise that I can watch and go 'ooh, lovely' not 'ffs why am I awake at such an unholy hour'

HunterofStars · 07/07/2018 12:29

My people. Autumn is my favourite season by far. I love wearing boots, cardigans and jeans. I hate the heat in summer and get excited for the end of August. I love seeing the colours too and I always feel I have more energy in autumn.

I look forward to Strictly, Halloween and Bonfire night every year.

Mind you I love being cold for some reason.

Kathulu · 07/07/2018 13:04

@Decemberfairy - I was born on the Winter Solstice and my dad says it's been in my blood ever since. Wink

NeonPink · 15/07/2018 21:41

This post has cheered me up! Autumn is.my favourite season ever! :D I do love summer (not this intense heat) and I like spring around Easter time when the clocks go forward and the daffodils spring up. I hate winter though, especially January and February!

I cannot wait for the weather to cool down, put on my cosy boots and go for walks whilst kicking through all the crisp leaves. That crisp smell too.... I could really go on!!

dudsville · 15/07/2018 21:44

I love summer and this has been best one in ages and I'm thoroughly happy. However, October/November has always been my favourite time of the year so I will enjoy that too!

Yutes · 15/07/2018 21:46

I just love curling up with some candles and some box sets when it’s dark and cool. The leaves change from green to gold.

bychoiceornot · 15/07/2018 21:47

I was ready for summer to be over after just one day of this rotten heat, I think my poor colleagues were too, given how I get so grumpy every time we step outside! But I had my boss say to me the other day that she is glad I'm 'weird' (thanks boss!) as it means I don't ask for annual leave over the summer, as at least at work I'm hopefully in a car with AC or in patients' cool homes, and therefore she has one fewer person to try and squeeze annual leave in for while it's still hot. Bonus to having staff who love autumn!

steff13 · 15/07/2018 21:49

I took my daughter to the fair yesterday. It was 101° F. We almost melted. I'm so ready for Autumn.

moonandmountains · 15/07/2018 21:51

Oh gosh, Autumn can't come soon enough. This weather is hell, I hate everything about it (and I'm not a misery!) ...I cannot wait for October. If I could skip the next few months I absolutely would.

wellBeehivedWoman · 15/07/2018 21:54

YES. I've done nothing all week but pin decorative gourds and plaid shirts on Pinterest. I want leaves to crunch underneath my brown leather boots and I want to drink hot coffee without sweating and I want to make apple pies with cinnamon

steff13 · 15/07/2018 22:06

I'm ready for my Ugg boots and a pumpkin spice latte.

Wanttomakemincepies · 15/07/2018 22:10

Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. Not a fan of the heat at all, but do love being outside. I love beaches in Autumn as much as the woods. Love Formby beach for this reason (beach with woods).

Albatross26 · 15/07/2018 22:13

Yes my people Smile

Cold crisp days, dark cosy nights, the air smelling of wood smoke, jumpers and scarves...bring it on!

IGiorni · 15/07/2018 22:14

I am fed up of this heat. Everyone’s sticky, my cats are shedding like mad, the children are grumpy and all the outdoor places are too busy. I like boots, jumpers, hot chocolate and fires.

Hygge · 15/07/2018 22:15

@bandthenjust - "I 've already been updating my Autumn board on pinterest"

Same here. I have a board for every season but I think Autumn gets the most pins from me.

lidoshuffle · 15/07/2018 22:23

My tribe! As well as the cool crisp golden days, I love a rainstorm hammering away at the window and me curled up with Inspector Morse/Lewis and some expensive chocolate. Heaven.

Kathulu · 15/07/2018 22:31

I've got a new Gingerbread recipe book and I've spent my evening putting tabs through it so I know which ones to try first Blushmy MIL thinks I'm mental and my own dad and brother are both so badly affected by SAD in the colder, darker months that they can't understand my love of blackout curtains all year round. Also the humidity here has been at 100% for the last few days and it feels like you're walking through a laundry room on drying day. There's no respite - bring on the cool, bright crisp days where the sun sets at a decent time, (around 5pm is my favourite.)

RedDwarves · 15/07/2018 22:35

Autumn is just a prettier, slightly less predictable, summer here in Australia. Grin

It was 35 degrees at my graduation in mid-April. It was grim.

But we were getting beautiful 20-24 degree days right through until the end of May, which was amazing. Wouldn't trade that.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 15/07/2018 22:56

I was at fountains abbey yesterday and some of the trees were looking quite autumnal with their leaves beginning to turn brown. There were a few of those helicopter seeds (sycamore?) on the ground too. It felt a bit odd as it was so hot! I'm not complaining though; I like autumn and I'm looking forward to it this year more than last because the heat is doing my head in now!

ElizaBenson · 15/07/2018 23:07

You are my people! I love spring and autumn, I'm no good with very hot or very cold, i am really struggling this summer. I like long sleeves, needing a jumper, boots and crisp mornings, blankets and candles and warm drinks!

GreenEyedBlonde · 15/07/2018 23:10

This thread is where I belong in life! 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🎃🎃🎃

HelenaDove · 15/07/2018 23:11

this heat is affecting me badly. Ive put ON weight from eating things like choc ices and salad isnt very filling.

Im one of those people who finds it easier to eat healthily in winter.

DisaL · 15/07/2018 23:18

Reading this made my stomach flip in excitement. I love Autumn and I'm so fed up now of feeling hot and uncomfortable. Bring me dark evenings, fluffy pyjamas and cosy blankets any day over this. I'm off to dream of all of that now Smile

SadieHH · 15/07/2018 23:29

Wait for me! Autumn is my favourite season. A brand new school year, leaves crunching, misty mornings, scarves and boots, hot drinks, dark evenings, Halloween and bonfire night. I can't wait!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/07/2018 23:31

I don’t mind the sunny days and having a nice clean dog after our walks rather than a wet muddy one. Am looking forward to jeans, boots and snuggly scarves though. And the run up to Christmas. Will be getting all my lovely autumnal pottery out and looking forward to Christmas.
