To think this is a bizare substitution?!

Had my online shop delivered earlier. I’d ordered a bottle of factor 50 sun cream and it was obviously not available so they substituted it.

Now I would have assumed they’d substitute it with another factor 50 of a different brand, or a lower factor of any brand, but no, they substituted it with a bottle of aftersun!

Made me laugh.... I guess I might have needed aftersun if I didn’t use suncream! (They pick the delivery from a very large local supermarket, and despite the hot weather I really can’t believe they had no other suncream to pick from!)

What shopping substitutions have amused you?

Ordered eggs (to make a cake) got Scotch Eggs (much less useful in the circumstances).

Ours...phones you to ask. So they'll call and say "We don't have Brand veggie pizza so would you like Brand pepperoni or OtherBrand veggie?" etc. V dull.

I ordered normal condoms once and they sent me 'tingly' ones. Burnt the absolute fanjo off me!!!

I was got a car wash sponge in exchange for a Victoria sponge cake.

Ordered a pack of chicken breasts. Got a plastic spatula.

I've posted it before but they once sent me a bag of chunky frozen chips instead of ice cubes! I didn't put them in my G&T!

A colleague of mine made an excellent fish finger curry - it was something of a specialty. He said it came about because he ordered okra (ladies fingers) and got fish fingers instead, so gave it a go...

Mine isn't quite as weird as others but I'll share anyway!

I once ordered 42 ready made Hipp Organic infant milk cartons (250ml each) totalling around £50. They didn't have any so sent me 42 BOXES of powdered infant milk (4 crates full) totalling £357 😲. Sent it all back!

My husband and I decided after last night's shopping trip with our newborn daughter that we're going to start ordering groceries to be delivered instead.
