To think this is a bizare substitution?!

Had my online shop delivered earlier. I’d ordered a bottle of factor 50 sun cream and it was obviously not available so they substituted it.

Now I would have assumed they’d substitute it with another factor 50 of a different brand, or a lower factor of any brand, but no, they substituted it with a bottle of aftersun!

Made me laugh.... I guess I might have needed aftersun if I didn’t use suncream! (They pick the delivery from a very large local supermarket, and despite the hot weather I really can’t believe they had no other suncream to pick from!)

What shopping substitutions have amused you?

I ordered bouquet of flowers and was substituted a box of Roses chocs.

I ordered 4x 8 pack iron bru once ( it was a good deal) but no 8 packs in stock.
So they subbed me 4x 24 packs! I queried it with the driver and he said to keep it and save him the paperwork!
Also they subbed my 32 big pack of AA batteries with 6 x 4 pack. I said I’m obviously not accepting less for the same price. He refunded and let me keep them :)

Love it when I get a leaking tin of juice or beer in a multipack as they always refund and let me keep it

I got cling film, instead of foil, the other day.

Nothing beats colpermin peppermint oil capsules instead of germoloids ointment, mind [wince]

This weekend's order from Asda: I ordered fajita stir fry, got Chinese stir fry instead. Which wouldn't be too bad, except I'd ordered wraps, salsa, etc etc to put with the fajitas. In the same order, ordered lamb shanks, and a load of mashed potato to go with them. No lamb shanks, so now have a fridge full of mash. Ordered a pack of 12 mini cheese and onion rolls, got 2 packs of 6 normal size cheese and onion rolls, so again, fridge is full of cheese and onion rolls.

I ordered shampoo and got hairspray. It wasn't even the same brand so I have no idea what the rationale was. There must have been other bottles of shampoo there!

I also once ordered a bottle of wine and was told there were no substitutions available. Didn't believe that either!

Not that bizarre really, at least in the ggrand scheme of weird substitutions! It is related, or maybe they didnt realise and picked one they thought was similar in the range. Last week they subbed DS’S ellas kitchen fruit pouches for sandwich thins. Can’t make the link at all....?!?

My first ever order I meant to order 10 bananas.. Accidentally had press and extra 0.. I got 100 of the damn things!

I got five chorizo pizzas instead of five Vegetarian pizzas.

But best if all, for mushroom soup I got Chicken tonight!

I've had loads of free eggs because one has been broken.

Wanted to clean my windows. Ordered Mr Muscle window cleaner. It was substituted with Mr Muscle shower cleaner. Can't believe there wasn't another brand of window cleaner available ! That was Tesco. Ocado are brilliant though - very rarely have substitutions at all.

years ago my then 18 month old was in size 6 nappies,he was 40 odd pounds at the time and just about fitted in them(always been a bigger than norm kid)and i was given newborn size 0 nappies

he wasn't even in those at birth as he went straight in to size 2s

months ago i ordered fresh steak and i was sent vegetarian sausages instead,i started using another company after that and no longer tick the substitute box

I once ordered frozen green veggie mix and got apple crumble instead. I was amused and also quite happy as the crumble was delicious.

I have a habit of ordering things in miniature by mistake when I order online

I've been really lucky with my substitutions from Tesco. I always get a more expensive version or bigger packs.

I've managed to order either giant or miniature versions of things myself though

At Asda a few times I ordered wine on a 3 for £12 offer. If they didn't have a particular bottle they often sent a sub which they would have given me for the non offer price of the original, but it totally obliterated the offer so I would have ended up paying full price for all 3. When I complained, customer services would just refund me for all three bottles and let me keep them, when I would have just been happy to pay the £12 and accept the sub. Daft policy but I was happy to get the free wine! 👍😂 This happened several times and it was never deliberate on my part!

I ordered a valentines card for my dp (was poorly) along with a weekly shop in Feb. Got an anniversary card instead.

Have said this on here before, but my fave asda sub was when I ordered immodium (sp?). They sent sennacot. ..

I have a large family and so order kg of pasta, fish fingers, lots of washing powder etc. On the day our shop arrived, I was at work and my DH was sorting it out And he called me said this is an unusual shop, you have 24 mini croissants, seeded sourdough bread, Heston Bluminthalls Panetone and a huge bottle of Jack Daniels.

It was Ocado so they said to keep it and the other customer would be refunded. I switched to Ocado after getting the really stupid substitutions everyone is posting.
