Would it be wrong of me to set up a paddling pool in the garden fill it with freezing cold water and just sit in it.
At the moment I am so hot I am sure I would create steam from said pool.
DH thinks I I am joking I am not sure that it just might be a splendid idea.Sure Dd and Ds would die of embarrassment though.

Do it! You don’t need permission Grin

Vitalogy · 05/07/2018 20:16

Go for it! Sounds lovely.

Roystonv · 05/07/2018 20:17

Oooh lovely room for me?

HemanOrSheRa · 05/07/2018 20:17

Oh do It! I am so hot Sad. My inner body temperature is hotter than the earth's core at the best of times and I've lost the ability to regulate my body temp. In fact I am so hot that my sunglasses steam up Confused.

ToastyFingers · 05/07/2018 20:18

I was heavily pregnant during the 2013 'heatwave' and did exactly this. for hours at a time. it was bliss.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 05/07/2018 20:18

Definitely do it! Make sure you have a nice cool drink within reach and possibly some music of your choice! 😉

KOKOagainandagain · 05/07/2018 20:18

I have an inflatable pool with a seat and built in drinks holder. It is glorious Smile

Halfeatentoast · 05/07/2018 20:20

I'm planning on taking over my son's paddling pool with my huge 30 week pregnant bump and hot, swollen feet. I say go for it! Have an ice cream and/or cocktail whilst you're there. I'll join you with a mocktail!

Lolly49 · 05/07/2018 20:25

Thanks for the encouragement ladies.I am going to buy one tomorrow haven't had one for years as Dc's are 21 & 18.
But at the moment I feel like I am about to spontaneously combust.
Would a bootle of fizz in an ice bucket be too much?

Also HRT - hot and sweaty broken sleep during sub-zero temperatures. Now I actually sleep. Bliss.

ElinorCadwaller · 05/07/2018 20:28

Do it. Also, you can freeze hot water bottles (not too full) to make big ice packs.

Ladybirdbookworm · 05/07/2018 20:34

What a revelation .....I want one too now.
I just love the smell of a padding pool, there's nothing quite like it . Do it

morningtoncrescent62 · 05/07/2018 20:41

If only I had a garden I'd have done exactly the same. Luckily it's been quite cool here while the rest of the country swelters (Edinburgh) - we only had a couple of days that you could call hot. Enjoy your immersion therapy and tell your DCs that it's your job to embarrass them so they'd better get used to it. And yy to the bottle of fizz, do the thing in style! Wine

halfwitpicker · 05/07/2018 20:45

DO IT!

ahhh

Lolly49 · 05/07/2018 20:46

keepOnkeepingOn1 that sounds marvellous like the idea about the hot water bottles as well may as well get some use out of themSmile

Can I suggest throwing a handful of grass in to the water ,for that authentic
70's vibe 😃

DrMidgeryMargery · 05/07/2018 20:53

Do it, it’s the only thing keeping me going at the moment. I’m boiling even in the depths of winter. Bought a big pool for me and told DD she’s strictly to keep grass, sticks, other bits of shit that she gathers in her own, littler pool 😁 that rule lasted a day, but fuck it. It’s still brilliant

Celticmombella · 05/07/2018 20:58

I couldn't get a paddling pool all sold out so I bought an inflatable boat and filled it up.... I've sat in it and couldn't careless who saw me... So worth it.

Roystonv · 05/07/2018 21:04

Herman and Dr can I hijack and ask have you a diagnosis for why you are hot all the time? I have been for about 20 years and would love to know why. I own no woolies, 1 jacket and 1 fleece and rarely wear them.

HemanOrSheRa · 05/07/2018 21:20

It's peri meno in my case Roystonv. My Mum and Auntie (Mum's sister) had breast cancer. Mum was 48 when she was first diagnosed, I'm 46. So I am unsure about HRT.

SilentBob · 05/07/2018 21:28

I'm not even pregnant yet I bought a 10ft inflatable "swimming pool" from a shop which excels not only in Home but also in Bargains as a dare the week before last. Don't ask. I have been in the bugger every single night since we (before the hosepipe ban) filled it.

It also doubles as a watering hole for local wildlife. Win win.

FlyingElbows · 05/07/2018 21:40

If you've got a bit of cash you want rid of I'd heartily recommend a lay z spa. Paddling pools for grown ups but omg they're worth it just now.

DrMidgeryMargery · 05/07/2018 22:17

Roystonv in my case I think it’s just being fat Grin

Ladybirdbookworm · 06/07/2018 00:39

Ahh yes .......the smell of a paddling pool AND bits of grass floating around ...its all coming back to me. All I need now is a packet of spangles and a jubbly and I'm back in 1975

PositivelyPERF · 06/07/2018 00:41

We have a fecking hose pipe ban. So jealous of you lot, right now. Hmm
