AIBU to fancy Frank Skinner?

If it wasn’t for DH, I’d be asking him out. He loves the Fall, like me, and was even brave enough to interview Mark E Smith, and he presenrs the Portrait/Landscape Artist of the year programme while being absolutely charming and amusing.
Oh Frank, with your twinkly eyes and hilarity, I could imagine “great things” between us!
My other quirky crushes are Saul from “Better Call Saul”, Superhans from “Peepshow” and Malcolm Tucker from “The Thick of it”.
Anyone else?

He was 30 when he became teetotal, which is when he started stand up I think. He's done well for himself, and I think he's intelligent and witty, and based on what I've viewed only, he seems like a nice chap. But his degree is an impressive achievement in the same as anyone who has a masters in English lit and not moreso in my mind.

Would be disappointed to see him I'm a different light. I don't mind crude humour, and don't necessarily think someone's a misogynist if they joke in that manner, but plenty of others disagree.

“But his degree is an impressive achievement in the same as anyone who has a masters in English lit and not moreso in my mind“

His Masters in English Literature is infinitely more impressive than mine!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 06/07/2018 11:29

I sat next to him in the cinema once. Absolutely no charisma. I was very disappointed.

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 11:34

Really? You would have thought with him being a prominent Catholic......

Imstickingwiththisone · 06/07/2018 11:36

Bertrand I don't, and applaud you both Wink I'm generalising due to ignorance if you hadn't figured that out yet! Grin

whatwouldkeithRichardsdo2 · 06/07/2018 11:40

Met him a few times in a work capacity and the socializing that comes with it. Let's just say, there are nicer people. Sorry. Confused

LoveHateLove · 06/07/2018 11:45

Urgh I can stand the man.

And I don't get the love for his radio show on Absolute. It's full as dishwater if I ever have the misfortune to hear a small part of it. Hmm

LoveHateLove · 06/07/2018 11:46

*CAN'T

ffs.

FatherBuzzCagney · 06/07/2018 11:52

I saw him on a chatshow years ago when he said, when asked about his obsession with anal sex, that if a woman changed their mind part way through because it hurt then that was tough luck because no man was going to stop before he was finished. He's a hideous misogynistic pig.

anothername2 · 06/07/2018 11:59

YABVU

As an aside I know his first wife, nice lady.

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 12:27

“I'm generalising due to ignorance if you hadn't figured that out yet! grin”
I’m sure you’re not!

What I meant was that mine was train tracks from Clark’s sandals to MA hood. All I had to do was jump through each hoop as it was held up for me.

FS came from a bookless family, left school with 2 O levels, then off his own bat went back to education, re sat O levels, took A levels, went to university as a mature student etc. and has obviously read hugely. Never in a million years could I have done that.

theycallmebabydriver · 06/07/2018 12:35

I can see the attraction. I feel the same a out Lee Mack but apparently he's awful too

I used to do some stand up and know a good few people who have encountered Lee Mack as they've made their way up the ranks and have never heard anything but what a lovely bloke he is and how he's got loads of time and encouragement for new stand ups. From all I've heard he's a top chap.

redfairy · 06/07/2018 12:53

I'm so relieved about Lee Mack. That's all! Grin

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 06/07/2018 14:06

lol you do know frank skinner is not his real name?

he chose a name that sounded more working class :)

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 14:08

How is Frank Skinner more working class than Chris Collins?

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 06/07/2018 14:19

he wanted an old mans name

cc is a bit meh i guess

LittleLionMansMummy · 06/07/2018 14:20

I'm so relieved about Lee Mack

Me too! Love him on Would I Lie To You.

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 14:21

There was already a Chris Collins on the circuit. He had to change it.

MargotLovedTom1 · 06/07/2018 15:50

I had a truly lovely dream about Lee Mack once. Not even a sex dream; he just really, really loved me, I felt the same about him and we were dreamily happy together. I felt like I was being unfaithful to him when I woke up next to DH. Always have a fond smile when I see him on TV Grin.

SerenDippitty · 06/07/2018 17:54

Glad about Lee Mack. He and David Mitchell come across as great friends on WILTY and I can’t think that would be the case if LM was a really horrible bloke.

I’ve seen FS live, about 15 years ago or more, he did talk about anal sex but apart from that he was really funny. I wouldn’t pay to see him again though.

bychoiceornot · 07/07/2018 19:33

Totally on board with the Malcolm Tucker thing, by the way!

I was going to say something about how when it comes to solely physically being attracted to someone, that's not really anyone else's call but yours... I suppose there's a reason that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' is a cliche.

But when it comes to personality etc., it's a bit more muddied. I realise I just said I think Tucker is hot, and I stand by that despite the moral-less bastard that he is, but I suppose the whole fictional aspect gives a bit more leeway (when it comes to me rationalising it to myself, at least!)

Also... Rhod Gilbert. Yes!

SeekingClosure · 07/07/2018 20:38

I have a soft spot for Frank (but not like that) as I am a Black Country wench. I think he has matured into a very cultured, intelligent man. I don't believe he holds those sexist views anymore (if he ever did, it may have been bravado) and he has a lot of female friends such as Joan Bakewell.

His autobiography was very funny and honest but the prostitute bit was revolting. He described track lines down her legs where leaking fluid had washed the dirt off Envy

I always listen to his radio show but agree it can be dreadfully dull. Some of his puns are really dire yet always followed by peals of sycophantic laughter which makes it worse. One thing I have noticed is he is often ungenerous towards his male co-hosts, not laughing at their jokes etc. He's different with the women guests.

Beebiesandcheebies · 07/07/2018 20:40

I don't fancy him but he does make me laugh

dementedma · 07/07/2018 20:47

urgh, he's revolting!

ZenNudist · 07/07/2018 20:50

He looks about 500.

Funny tho'.
