To wonder what the hell this is and how it got here?

Posting here for traffic. Just had a very weird thing happen and neither DH nor I can fathom what has happened:

Just went up to our en suite bathroom and noticed a blue-black blob in the sink. It looked a bit like someone had half eaten a blackcurrant and spat it out so I thought it was just the kids. Or maybe even a bird poo of some sort. There is a sky light window above the sink so this was kind of conceivable. But then I thought about it and the kids haven’t been eating berries.

Then I looked over at the bath and there were two splodges of what looks like black ink in the bath. Nothing anywhere else. The ceiling above the bath is clean. The shower is at the other end of the bath and not leaking black stuff.

I called DH and he said it hadn’t been there when he brushed DD’s teeth a couple of hours ago - and no one has been in that room since then!

In the interest of science I stuck a cotton bud in it and it was quite liquid, didn’t really have a smell.

What the hell can it be? Pictures attached - I had rinsed the one in the sink before I thought about it but it had more of what looked like a lump in it. Or a more concentrated patch.

I’m sure there is some sort of mundane explanation but at the moment we can’t think what it is! If something sprayed in the window it would have been a very impressive trajectory through the velux window and even if so - what the hell was it outside?

Pic of the bath splatters and the window which is about a meter away from the bath!

To wonder what the hell this is and how it got here?

I’d plump for berries being blown in the open window if a) the window's been open and b) it’s been windy in your neck of the woods.

We have a few shrubs/trees in the garden that produces dark purple berries. Mahonia, laurel, fatsia. One of them has berries right now as DD’s been using them like ink, can’t remember which one, might be mahonia.

Fly poo? Looks a bit big though, it’s normally small spots.

Hohofortherobbers · 04/07/2018 22:30

Spider poo. How big is it? We get specks of this and it dries rock solid, about 2mm diameter. Always spider poo. If it's bigger than that I wouldn't fancy meeting the spider......

BusterGonad · 04/07/2018 22:31

Do you have blue loo blocks? Could it be a vigorous flush after hours of blue loo water and some came out of the bowl and splashed the sink and bath???

mumsastudent · 04/07/2018 22:32

spider poo or baby spider eggs - spiders hide sneak into corners make web in corner or above sink etc eat fly and plop what goes in must come out - (now see op tearing bathroom apart to find spider) of course spiders may move elsewhere either out through window or …...

Bridgeofpies · 04/07/2018 22:33

Big splodges about the size of a 10p coin, the smaller one about a 1p coin and the one in the sink was a similar sort of size.

No blue loo block, nor any loo blocks at all!

Bee Diarrhoea ConfusedGrin.

It looks very much like splats of the blue shampoo that I bought in order to tame down the red in my light brown hair. It doesn't work but left splats like that in the bath.

BusterGonad · 04/07/2018 22:34

Has anyone dyed their hair recently (blue black/Plum etc) and then it got wet and dripped in the sink and bath? Have the kids eaten ice lollies and some dribbled out?

BillThePony · 04/07/2018 22:34

I found something similar in my bathroom many moons ago. Turns out ex dp had tried just for men on his hair Hmm he denied it at first but the absence of grey bits was a bit of a give away.

girlandboy · 04/07/2018 22:36

Exploding ticks due to the heat 😉

Ancientmummyofwooooos · 04/07/2018 22:36

Dont poke it! It might grab what you poked it with and poke you back!

Bridgeofpies · 04/07/2018 22:36

Everyone in our house is blonde... and no dyes or even soaps or anything which are anything like that colour. So not hair dye!

Bridgeofpies · 04/07/2018 22:39

Do you wear liquid eyeliner at all ...?

Whatdoido2018 · 04/07/2018 22:49

Does anyone use purple shampoo?! That 'Touch of Silver' stuff... Purple/blue toothpaste?

longwayoff · 04/07/2018 22:52

Hope you dont live in Amesbury . . .

doctorcuntybollocks · 04/07/2018 22:54

Have you annoyed any pirates recently?

StaplesCorner · 04/07/2018 22:54

Get it on a tissue and smear it across the tissue see if it has other colours in it, or even bits. Poke it. Report back to us.

Bridgeofpies · 04/07/2018 22:57

So, no to paintball, liquid eyeliner, purple shampoo (have just checked and all shampoos / shower gels in there are white coloured).

Got it on the cotton bud. It looks black, maybe a hint of blue but might be my imagination. There was what looked like a little lump in it but could have just been slightly thicker there. Mostly very liquid. It really looks like ink!

Fortunately don’t live in Amesbury. Nor near the sea so pirates not such an issue here.

It's bird shit.

I can't help bit think of the it's NOT a snail thread, oh... it's a snail.

AlwaysTheEnd · 04/07/2018 23:02

Whoever suggested makeup might be on to something.... 🤔. Mascara?

Have you felt it between your fingers? Is it wet or sticky? Does it smell?

MissSmiley · 04/07/2018 23:09

Definitely bird poo
