Sat there and thought about how much I loved that film as a kid.

Now I think how much of an arse the ex husband was.

He was a complete lazy arse who took no responsibility for himself and left it all to his wife.

Gaslighted his wife when she tried to bring him up on it

Stalked his wife and sabotaged her new relationship

When got caught, blamed it on her with a "well if you let me see them, I wouldn't have had to do this"

I hated this at the time. It was so creepy. The worst bit is when the child sees Mrs Doubtfire urinating and realises she is actually a man. How scary must that be?

You’re damn right. I enjoyed the film at the time, but even then I found it upsetting and that the main character was an emotionally manipulative person.

The bit where he gets the boyfriend never got as much attention as the equivalent “allergy scene” in Peter Rabbit, but it was pretty nasty.

I don’t think he was that much of a deadbeat though; they were quite mismatched as a couple

I hated the film but the original book was quite different.

DH is quite sick of me now whenever we watch anything saying "imagine if that was two women saying that" or "imagine if a woman did that to a man"

Don't watch twilight that is messed up, the main character is a a old guy who hangs about schools trying to pick women up, and is emotionally abusive as well.

And pretty woman that film about a bloke who hires a prostitute.

Most popular films and indeed sitcoms etc, I reckon, when broken down to the basics illustrate quite dark and unsavoury aspects of human nature.

Never gave it any thought. Can't un see it now
