The above is a quote from The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, said by Lord Elrond. At this stage, with POTUS practically pissing off every ally the US has while cosying up with several dictators, it seems quite apt.

I know what you mean mini. I baulk at giving him any excuse too, but I suppose the Windsor wandering hit a nerve since it was a sharp reminder of how my father behaved when he developed dementia. At that moment, he was just a confused old man. Smile

It doesn't excuse any of the other behaviour or his fundamental vileness. And I so want to know what Putin has on him too . I suspect we will find out quite soon, as Putin might soon start to see him as a liability, and will cut him loose. That's when the GOP really will start fighting like rats in a sack.

OTOH, I read this morning I woke ridiculously early that he would have had a protocol briefing (Flotus's press secretary confirmed she did) but probably didn't read itGrin

Hmm More of a pooh trap.
‘It's a big FU from Mueller’
'Trump’s allies question timing of latest Mueller indictments — on the eve of the Putin summit.'

'The timing is no accident,” said John Dean, the former Richard Nixon White House counsel whose public testimony about the Watergate cover-up helped bring down the Republican president. “It forces Trump to confront Putin. If he fails to do so he is admitting guilt. This story will now consume U.S.A. news, and blows up Trump’s claim it is all a witch hunt and hoax.” '

Ffs, I have ME spelling blindness, Gump. Drives me nuts. I'm a rabid grammar pendant Grin

And he was so subtle about it, too.

It's almost like there's a culture of believing themselves above the law:

US lawmaker caught speeding tells cop he often does so
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44827135

Police stopped Representative Paul Mosley for going 97mph (156km/h) in a 55mph zone near Parker, Arizona, on 27 March in a filmed incident.
Mr Mosley said he would go "130, 140" mph on his way home and told the cop he had legislative immunity.
[...]
A top Arizona lawmaker, Speaker J D Mesnard, said in a statement he was "disturbed" by the video.
"Nothing short of an emergency justifies that kind of speeding, and assertions of immunity in that situation seem outside the intent of the constitutional provision regarding legislative immunity," said Mr Mesnard.

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 09:27

Interesting, and satisfying, to see T. surrogates now being confounded and caught of by their own defensive arguments more and more as Mueller marches on.

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 09:28

of out

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 09:47

I now feel more confident in Rosenstein, Lweji, but it's a bit of a double edged sword. The more publicly effective he is, the greater the incitement to Donnie Dolly Hands to ditch him.

Lweji · 14/07/2018 09:49

But it's also more obvious why if The Don sacks him.

The Russian indictments show their priority isn't the Americans.
Hopefully, it will be too late when the spider goes for the kill. Too optimistic?

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 09:50

I do know, Gump, how seeing someone apparently all at sea can be such a painful reminder. My lovely Mum was lost to me in the same way during the last two years of her life.

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 09:57

Sorry, Gump, posted too soon. As much as I loathe the Trump clan, I would not wish that experience on them. And if we ever saw T. devastated by dementia, I bet you and I would have more human feeling towards him than he is capable of feeling or showing

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 10:01

Balls to you, Mr. T.:

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 10:03

Definitely not, Lweji, the spider spinning his web is a great analogy!

Lweji · 14/07/2018 10:06

A golf course bore, say Downing Street insiders.

read.bi/2NMDrNi

I'd feel for the family if he has dementia, but if he has and they know it, they're harming the country and not only. Sympathy gone.

ohmymimi · 14/07/2018 12:08

That article really does confirm the obvious Grin, Lweji. He is only really is interested in one topic, him. He is unread and ignorant. He is an obsessive. Classic bore.

His scattergun affect, inability to concentrate and follow through a rational argument, will only get worse as he ages, and does explain how he was unable to benefit from the educational opportunities his pa bought for him. It certainly also explains some of how he approached his business; no daily plan, constant freewheeling phone calls, opportunistic.

I think, somewhere at the depths of that black hole, where his soul should be, he knows he is neither clever nor capable, (and that is why he is addicted to the feedback he gets from rallies with his cult) but superficially he does think he is a genius high achiever.

He is an effective con artist and showman to the willing and frightening how his following became cultish so quickly and easily. I loathe what a compelling psychological study he is. But it is horribly fascinating, also because it is so perilous. He has not one iota of any quality required to be a decent leader and president. And I thought Brexit was going to be the only nightmare haunting my later years. Hmm

This is old, but the hacking of the RNC/repugs rarely gets a mention. I wonder what Mueller knows? The way a lot of Trumper repugs act makes one suspicious the the Ruskies have got something on them.
