I'm so desperate to say something to one of my old friends who has started selling Younique. Should I or just leave her to it?

How can anyone actually believe the nonsense that they are spouting? She has messaged me trying to recruit me, apparently I can earn up to 100k selling make up on the side of my actual job.

Mathematically, if one person recruits 5 people and then they each recruit 5 etc etc this can only happen 13 times before you reach the population of the entire world! She is an intelligent woman, I feel so sad that she has been lured into a scam.

TheMythicalChicken

If one person recruits 5 people, that's 6 people in total.
If those 5 people each recruit 5 people that's 26 people (25 recruitees plus the original recruiter).
Those 25 recruitees then recruit 5 people each and so on.

So 1x5=a ax5=b bx5=c
Once you do that 13 times you end up at over 1 billion and something.

woollyheart · 13/08/2018 09:42

Yes, after 13 times, you reach around 1.2 billion. The actual population of the earth is around 7.4 billion, so you probably need to 14 levels of recruitment to cover the entire population. But not far wrong - and of course a lot of the population are children so probably not eligible for recruitment anyway.

Does this count as a pyramid scheme? I thought they were made illegal? A lot of people lost money to these schemes and I think they were considered frauds.

My cousin has started doing this nonsense, it’s doing my head in! The thing that gets me is she is a really good hairdresser who works from home, and has her own genuinely doing well business, she absolutely does not need to do this crap! She’s started coming out with all of the stuff about how Younique protects women. Sadly we’re not close enough for me to point out that it’s a bad idea, and it’ll probably cause a family argument so I’m just ignoring and really hoping she doesn’t waste too much of her profits on this crap!

TheMythicalChicken · 13/08/2018 21:31

Thanks for explaining. That’s so interesting.

My DD’s class teacher gave up her job to sell Forever Living. It was so sad. The school had to replace her halfway through the year when she left to focus on her ‘business’. The new teacher they got in was rubbish so the children’s education was disrupted (basically came to a grinding halt). Meanwhile the old teacher spent all her time and money trying to flog this crap to all the parents she had befriended on Facebook. That was 3 years ago and she’s unemployed now.

Exactly!

I had a rep from Arbonne try to recruit me ....sounded ok until she revealed that actually I needed £3000 to get started!
I burst out laughing and asked her if she genuinely thought I had that just laying around.... she responded very seriously with, oh no, you should go and get a loan!!

These people are abhorrent and should be better regulated. They sell a lifestyle not the products

BettySpagBol · 18/08/2018 13:41

That's insane @checkoutchick22 even if she was the worlds best financial advisor you'd question why they're telling you to invest something you haven't got.

@LeighaJ I'm stealing those I love them. Feel like posting underneath her videos.

She's recruited a couple of women now and keeps sharing their facebook lives. They all bang on about what they themselves have ordered. Dread to think why they've spent

They're just such car crash broadcasts and I think that's why I continue to look. They strike me as women who aren't even into makeup and struggle to apply it. Last night she got liquid eyeliner all over and was trying to fix it with a baby wipe then put on red lipgloss and said she didn't like it and looked like the joker GrinShock so I won't be buying that then
