To have underestimated a lovely bb cream or tinted moisturiser?

I never go out of the house without a full made up face. Just never have. Prob harks back to having terrible skin when younger.

Nearing 40 now. 3 young kids but always spare myself a quick 10 mins for a full foundation, concealer, powder, eyes, mascara and lips of a morning. No longer than 10 mins. Have just become v adept at it over the years.

BUT - just realised this sheer face is really nice. Nothing but tinted bb moisturiser and little concealer under eyes.

Maybe it's just a summer thing but it feels so nice, easy and the way to be.

Anyone else just stopped their full face of make up and found a lovely base to work with?

I used the garner bbc tinted moisturiser with a little estee lauder concealer.

I use No.7 tinted moisturiser through the summer, love not having to fuck about with full heavy foundation.

I very rarely wear make up. Just if I'm going to a posh do. And I've never worn any face stuff. I genuinely wonder if my social life or career would have panned out differently if I had. Do you have colleagues or friends who don't and if so, does it influence how you view them?

sayanythingelse · 01/07/2018 20:51

This is where I'd like to be. I've always worn a heavy foundation with loads of powder due to blotchiness and very oily skin. Just recently the blotchiness had cleared up a bit though so I've been thinking about a BB/CC cream, I don't really know which is best though. Any use a good one?

Grandmaswagsbag · 01/07/2018 20:51

I use the no 7 B.B. cream. It’s fab. Light but enough coverage. Foundation ages me so much and sticks in every wrinkle.

MrsChristianEriksen · 01/07/2018 20:55

I bought IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream after seeing it recommended on here and it’s really, really, really good.

I got the deal on QVC where you get the brush with it too.

It lasts all day even in this heat and doesn’t oxidise or go patchy.

DitheringBlidiot · 01/07/2018 20:59

I’ve never found an actual B.B. cream that isn’t too orange on my very fair skin, so I’ve been mixing a bit of my foundation into my normal moisturiser. I don’t wear make up every single day though, and prefer a light coverage even when I do

Wellwouldyoulookatthat · 01/07/2018 21:01

NumbersLetters no - I think people just have a 'look*. Either a made up face or not and it's just their look. Most people I know don't bother with the same amount of make up as me. Am a SAHM now and it's really unnecessary to have full make up on for school runs.

I think I've always seen make up as a safety mask. To look the very best I can. In work and otherwise. I'm having a break now but I was a solicitor in a big corporate firm. I wore nice suits with heels and make up was the obvious way to finish the look. But not everyone took that look and that was fine.

It's nice to stop trying so hard. It's nice also to stop having massive spots which I had to cover up all the time.

I use Nivea tinted moisturiser.
Probably similar...
Under three pounds a tube.

mimibunz · 01/07/2018 21:05

I use an Estée Lauder BB cream love it. I’m actually the opposite of you, OP. I never wore foundation but as I approached my late 40s I wanted to even out my skin tone and combat my tired look!

Mamabear14 · 01/07/2018 21:08

I mix foundation a shade too dark into my moisturiser. the garnier one is too orange for my skin, even the light one. I use the rimmel wake me up foundation and the Aldi caviar cream.

MindBodyChocolate · 01/07/2018 21:12

I’ve found tinted moisturizer really good since I’ve hit 40 - it doesn’t seem to settle in the wrinkles etc so much.

I used to be a lawyer in a big firm too!! I work from home a lot now and don’t wear makeup at all some days. My skin is a lot better for it (oh, and the decrease in soul sapping, brain melting stress :) )

50shadesofgreyismylaundry · 01/07/2018 21:14

I like the No7 one that's factor 50 sunblock. It's perfect for summer.

Wellwouldyoulookatthat · 01/07/2018 21:15

That's a good idea. I have got away with the garnier tinted moisturiser today probably because of residue fake tan and it being summer. I'd look a spectacle with it during winter!

MindBodyChocolate I can almost hear the stress, like the make up, dropping off you from here. It's bloody awful, isn't it? X

I have very fair skin and used to use the palest Clarins one. I've discovered that the lightest Rimmel one is almost as good and a fraction of the price!

I think it has a lower SPF than the Clarins though.

looselegs · 01/07/2018 21:25

Love the Nivea tinted moisturiser ! Just enough coverage but not as thick as foundation.

DuchyDuke · 01/07/2018 21:27

Bobbi Brown is amazing

eggncress · 01/07/2018 21:28

I have always used tinted moisturiser, never foundation as don’t like the look or feel of it. Slick of mascara and lip gloss and I’m sorted Smile

MaluCachu · 01/07/2018 21:28

Home bargains do a great BB cream Wink

IfNot · 01/07/2018 21:33

Super drug used to do a brilliant CC cream, in a pink tube but the fuckers have discontinued it!
Every time I used it people would comment on how well I looked.

FatSally · 01/07/2018 21:33

Like a pp, I just mix a small blob of my usual foundation with face cream (or suntan lotion in high summer). It's the same effect really.

Mulberry72 · 01/07/2018 21:36

I use the Nivea tinted moisturiser, have done for years, with a swirl of bronzer and that’s me done 😊

ladybirdsi · 01/07/2018 21:41

@MaluCachu hey what's the name of the home bargains B.B. cream Il be going tmrw after work so il pick one up to try

gwenneh · 01/07/2018 21:45

Oh me! I have terrible rosacea and was using some HEAVY concealer until I ran out and the shop assistant recommended this tinted primer which does the SAME THING but without being heavy.

Life-changing!
