It went quite cool and rained earlier then annoyingly jacked back up

30 here tomorrow. Am not coping. We fill our bath with cold water and leave the upstairs doors and windows open, it cools the air a little.

SisyphusHadItEasy · 02/07/2018 00:42

With the humidity, we got up to 46C today. It will go down to mid 30s tonight, and back up to a similar high tomorrow.

The actual temperatures (without factoring in humidity) are mid-high 30s during the day and 22-24 at night.

Either way, it is pretty harsh - and I live in Canada the Frozen North

Semster · 02/07/2018 01:45

How do you calculate a temperature with humidity?

I'm assuming it's quite humid here today, as I was able to write my name in the condensation on my fridge...

Praisebe · 02/07/2018 01:52

Its too fucking warm to sleep !! I haven't had a good sleep in about 2 weeks and I've forgotten what rain and wind even is. I hate it i want rainy miserable Britain back Grin

steff13 · 02/07/2018 03:05

How do you calculate a temperature with humidity?

The metrologist on the news does it.

WilyMinx · 02/07/2018 03:12

33c, but not in the UK. Anything between 22c-28*c is perfect for me.

steff13 · 02/07/2018 03:20

Personally, I think 75F (23C) with no humidity is perfect.

ReadySteadyGoooo · 02/07/2018 03:28

Lol, @LadyOdd, I was going to say something similar. 42 degrees C today. I'm not in the UK though...
actually I hate the hot weather, my sympathies to those in the UK where nothing is set up to deal with sweltering heat!

Semster · 02/07/2018 03:49

The metrologist on the news does it.

Ah I haven't watched the news in about a decade :-)

I did just read a news story that talked about heat index. That's probably the same thing isn't it?

moira123io · 02/07/2018 03:52

It's 19 here in London but feels much hotter. Why is AC not a thing in this country? Considering going for a cold bath but don't want to wake the kids. Can't sleep it's so hot.

steff13 · 02/07/2018 03:59

Yeah, it's the same as the heat index. You can calculate yourself with this, if you're so inclined.

steff13 · 02/07/2018 04:05

Why is AC not a thing in this country?

Yeah, that is unfortunate. My allergies are so awful, I have to have the windows closed. Without a/c we'd all die.

londonloves · 02/07/2018 04:06

Anyone know why rooms downstairs are so much cooler than upstairs , even now? With windows open.
Just got baby back to sleep but his room is still hot as hell. Considering setting up a cot downstairs for rest of the week!

Domino211 · 02/07/2018 04:07

I’m not in UK and we’re about 46/47 at the moment - however we have AC in every building, a shaded pool and no carpets in houses so I find this far easier to manage!

Coming back to UK next week and hoping it cools down for us........

Wildernessie · 02/07/2018 04:16

10' at present..was 2'wen i woke up at 6:30am-we're in Vic,Oz tho..would love a bit of that heat right now😊

habibihabibi · 02/07/2018 04:25

Domino211 Middle East ?
Qatar is humid and hitting about 46c but we've good ac and a pool. At work I don't get a shaded park so I've got gloves to wear on the way home as the steering wheel gets so hot.
I love a balmy UK day but agree the nights in the thick walled houses are hell especially for children.

MongerTruffle · 02/07/2018 04:49

Anyone know why rooms downstairs are so much cooler than upstairs , even now? With windows open.
Because heat rises.

Domino211 · 02/07/2018 05:25

Habibi - Qatar too! I feel we’ve been quite lucky on weather this year, humidity only just starting and the temps haven’t been too unbearable so far

Heighwayqueen · 02/07/2018 08:59

-8° here this morning, in Canberra Australia. Got up to 14 through the day.
Our summers are hot though, between 30° to 40° for 2 months straight.

InterstellarSleepingElla · 02/07/2018 09:02

The thermostat in the living room is currently reading 26c - all the windows are open, as is the back door - met office says it is only going to reach 25C where I am today. Oh I am in the NW

Camomila · 02/07/2018 09:04

It's already warm in Croydon. Going to the playground now before it gets too hot.

My living room gets above 30C in the afternoons! My toddler (half Filipino) is luckily completly unbothered.

springmachine · 02/07/2018 09:10

Already warm outside in Hertfordshire.
Currently 23 degrees outside.
Yesterday got up to 31 outside.

Maximum temperature it's reached inside the house is 24.
My dial is currently reading 22.5 which is comfortable

It's an old house and I have shutters on the windows and don't open the windows when it's too hot so stays nice and cool

speakout · 02/07/2018 09:13

It's 10 degrees here- Scotland. I have my heating on.

LadyOdd · 03/07/2018 20:21

@poster ReadySteadyGoooo errgh 42 we’ve peaked 40 more than once so far! No AC in mine and a 10 month DD battling the heat is stressful. I miss the spring when it was 25 lol. @Domino Ouch! Like HK it’s easier when you just hope from AC to Ac I kinda miss a nice warm summers day!

LadyOdd · 03/07/2018 20:22

It’s 9.30 pm here and 33. I used to live in Oz and moved here after a decade in the uk seems I have forgotten what heat is like lol
