To have had enough of the weather

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/07/2018 08:34

I probably ABU and a real grump but I’ve had it with the heatwave now. Can’t sleep at night - am super sensitive to noise, so open windows means I’m awake at 4 thanks to the frigging dawn chorus. Shut windows mean no air coming in. We’re in a detached house but typical newer build gardens all bunched together so can hear next doors jolly japes/barbecues etc. I’d love to have the cash to move to a huge pile with no neighbours but still near enough to town for the DC Grin. I’ve come to the conclusion that although I love sun and heat on holiday, at home I want to be in control of what I can hear (disclaimer, I do have sensory issues and neighbours yesterday were literally only playing music outside for an hour). I know I’m being grumpy but I’m so bloody tired I can’t wait for the weather to break 😂

Well looks like we are in for a least another week of it! I'm in the throes of a 5 day and counting migraine and vertigo episode (with photo sensitivity)despite being super careful and avoiding the sun last weekend. I feel awful 24/7 like I've just stepped of a rollercoaster - so I just want this sunny weather to end.

I've never hated the glass roofed side return in my kitchen more. My neighbour is having an extension built so I have builders blasting really loud music all day long and drilling and bashing down walls with all the dust associated with that so had to close back windows and doors and can't dry washing outside. When that finishes there is a brief respite before all the end of exam parties and people's BBQ's and barking dogs start up. Joy.

Overthinkingagain · 01/07/2018 09:11

I hate it too, coupled with the wild fires we've had over the moors near here we've had to have the windows closed at night since sunday, could only have them opened the last couple of days.
I'm always grumpy in the heat n begging for a good storm after a couple of days it feels like weeks now and I just want to sit in a pool with my arms crossed pulling a temper tantrum face.

MrsHarveySpecterV · 01/07/2018 09:12

I usually love the sun but at 40 weeks pregnant I'm hating it at the minute!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/07/2018 09:14

Oh I’ve found my people Grin. Sympathies to you both but secretly pleased that I’m not alone. Migraines and wild fires Sad it’s all too grim Flowers

Get some ear plugs and a fan OP.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/07/2018 09:16

Good advice normally GreatDuck but ear plugs are out at the moment due to ongoing ear problems. I told you I was grumpy 😂

I’ve given in and bought an air con unit.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/07/2018 09:22

Oh no! I sympathise OP. I can't stand noise too so always have earplugs in.

fattonotsofat · 01/07/2018 09:22

I don't mind the heat as long as I literally don't have to move from my house.

Hubby and I have taken to separate bedrooms during this weather as he is like sleep with a fire. We accidentally bought an industrial fan last year but it has been a godsend during this weather. No good if you don't like noise but worth it to be able to sleep.

Ophelialovescats · 01/07/2018 09:26

Please tell me it but s going to rain soon ?

Sparklingbrook · 01/07/2018 09:29

If it doesn't rain soon apparently there will be no Broccoli. Shock
I am sort of enjoying the weather. Getting washing dry, eating dinner outside etc
But a few degrees cooler for getting the housework and cooking done.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/07/2018 09:45

No broccoli?? This is literally end of days for me now. Begrudgingly I can accept that it’s good to be able to dry washing outside and I enjoyed a pimms yesterday, but that’s it.

I love it! We have such miserable, damp weather normally this is heaven. I can’t actually remember the last decent summer we had (I’m saying 2006?). That said, it’s uncomfortable to work in, especially if you have certain dress codes and I’ve never been more grateful for in-car air conditioning.

SoupDragon · 01/07/2018 09:47

The miserable weather dragged on and on and on since last summer. This is a brief spell of hot weather.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 01/07/2018 09:53

Winter seemed to last forever so I'm absolutely loving this weather.
Air con unit or a Dyson fan OP?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/07/2018 09:55

Take heart, all ye too-hot-and-sweaty ones.

Wimbledon starts tomorrow, and it's an unwritten law that it has to be rained off at some point. And if that happens here, in the comparatively dry SE, there's almost bound to be a good soaking elsewhere.

flapjackfairy · 01/07/2018 09:55

Oh i detest it. I have 2 children with complex needs who annot regulate their temp so we cannot even go out for more than a few mins ! One of them is just under a fan 24 / 7 and i am under house arrest.
I have never been a big fan of heat and find summer difficult as i am just no good at it! I dont have the body for revealing clothes sadly and unfortunately despite hating heat i have Reynauds so cannot even wear strappy sandals as i am still needing a pair of socks to stop the pain of cold feet . I know it is mad when the rest of me is too hot but at least i am down to 1 pair of thermal socks rather than the 2 or 3 required in winter.
I cant wait to don jeans, jumpers and snuggly pjs again but at least the nights are drawing in again so i feel it is downhill towards winter now as it were . But if this keeps up for the next 3 months i may emigrate z,

sarcasmisnotthelowestformofwit · 01/07/2018 09:57

Yabu OP. We love it!! There are simple solutions if you're struggling at night. Buy an air con unit and sleep like a baby. If you can't afford one a good fan?

Ninoo25 · 01/07/2018 10:18

I’m with you. 25C is my comfortable limit really. I enjoy hotter temperatures on holiday, but that’s because I don’t have to do any washing, cooking or cleaning, tend to stay in places that are air conditioned and spend most of my time relaxing in the pool. When it’s too hot I get really lethargic and uncomfortable and I wish it would just cool down by about 5C (although I know in this country that probably won’t happen and when heatwave is over we’ll probably go back to 15C and rain!)

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/07/2018 10:29

Hmm it appears many are getting joy from the weather. Tbf I’m really crotchety when tired so it’s a bit of a vicious circle. We have got an aircon unit in the garage which we bought when we lived in a top floor flat in London so I could drag that out. My ideal would be a crisp sunny chilly day, perfect for being out and about, running, then cosying down in the evening.
Flapjackfairy that sounds really hard Flowers
