Is it entirely inappropriate to give a teacher a gift that contains a condom as an end of term present?

Sorry, not a trolltactular wind up thread to entertain on a Friday night but a real dilemma.

Ds 5 has a wonderful TA who is is key worker due to ADHD and suspected ASD. She is wonderful and I wanted to get her more than the usual mug and prosecco.

I've seen an online beauty box company that does a really nice lip care collection (lip balms, treatments and lipsticks) and it's bloody half price today! She's in her very early twenties and obviously looks after her appearance so I think this is perfect. However it weirdly contains a condom Confused. Can I still buy it for her?

The obvious thing to do would be to remove it but half the fun of these boxes is opening up all the tissue and packaging.

I don't think I would, it's a bit inappropriate

BeeFarseer · 29/06/2018 20:13

God no. Don't. Just don't.

Shesaysso · 29/06/2018 20:13

I really wouldn’t

Goldenbug · 29/06/2018 20:14

I would say not appropriate. Possibly quite insulting depending on her personal background. Don't risk it.

glueandstick · 29/06/2018 20:14

Do you really have to ask?! 😂😂

fatfeckingmavis · 29/06/2018 20:14

That’s probably why it’s half price... what sort of idiot dreams up these stupid contents? It’s a shame as it sounds a lovely gift without.

MuddyMoose · 29/06/2018 20:14

Buy it. Remove the condom. Put the tissue paper etc back & seal back up.

If this isn't doable I personally wouldn't buy it. I don't think a condom is an appropriate gift to give your child's TA.

Pengggwn · 29/06/2018 20:15

Just go to Boots and get her some make up? I'm sure she will sort her own contraception.

OuchLegoHurts · 29/06/2018 20:15

Good God no!!!

JimWilsonBell · 29/06/2018 20:15

I think you could if you have a good relationship with her; which I suspect you do. But I would enclose a card that says "I loved this set and instantly thought of you but then I noticed it had a blooming condom in it, haven't a clue why!! Hope you don't mind that bit!!"

Ilovewheelychairs · 29/06/2018 20:15

Could you email the company and ask them to remove it before packaging it up?

Knitjob · 29/06/2018 20:15

Mouth -related products and a condom- probably not.

Mxyzptlk · 29/06/2018 20:16
Biscuit
Notlivestock · 29/06/2018 20:16

I definitely wouldn't!!

Lougle · 29/06/2018 20:16

That's waaaayy over the line of personal.

Roomba · 29/06/2018 20:17

Oh god, no. Please don't! I don't know what I'd say if a pupils gave me that at the end of the year! Shock

TiffanyDoggett · 29/06/2018 20:17

Oh thank God! This is why I love mumsnet. Ok it's a no!! Grin

Roomba · 29/06/2018 20:18

Am not on top of my own SPAG tonight, clearly... I blame heatstroke!

HarshingMyMellow · 29/06/2018 20:18

Get it and just pretend you didn't know the condom was in there? Grin

I kid.

TiffanyDoggett · 29/06/2018 20:18

@Ilovewheelychairs I might try that as a last ditch attempt but otherwise No!

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 29/06/2018 20:18

Heres the thing, you don't know about her personal life and she might take it as insulting, or worse.

Also what if she's lesbian?

Okokiknow · 29/06/2018 20:19

Even if you remove it, it will be listed on the contents of the box! Just dont do it. Very inapropriate considering the nature of her job

Aeroflotgirl · 29/06/2018 20:19

Even if you removed the condom, it probably says on the box that it contains a condom, so the gift would be a no no.

MrsFogi · 29/06/2018 20:21

No way ShockShockShock

OVienna · 29/06/2018 20:22

Yes it is inappropriate.
