To wonder why the still play Michael Jackson songs?

What with the #metoo movement and so many actors, entertainers, directors, singers and comedians being (rightly in most cases) shutdown, why do they still play Michael Jackson songs on the radio?

I automatically turn it over. Why does he get a free pass? Because he's dead? I thought though all the allegations were proven? I don't get it?

That link you posted OP. did you read it?

“But now Radar Online has obtained what appear to be the case documents...”.

“Appeared to be”... not proved.

stellenbosch · 30/06/2018 00:33

I thought we'd moved on to a discussion about separating the art from the artist?

I was just addressing something other people had said!

In America it is widely believed that he was a pedophile, he is like our Saville. I am SHOCKED reading these responses.

marylandmary · 30/06/2018 01:06

In America it is widely believed that he was a pedophile

No it’s not!

EachandEveryone · 30/06/2018 01:07

I hope his dc are doing well. At least they dont seemto be in the press anymore.

RedDwarves · 30/06/2018 01:10

I hope his dc are doing well. At least they dont seemto be in the press anymore.

His daughter is everywhere. She was photographed licking windows at last year's Melbourne Cup and derided for it. But she seems to hang out with the current "in crowd" of celebrity offspring.

notangelinajolie · 30/06/2018 01:16

Not particularly a MJ fan but
a) he wasn't found guilty
b) his music was bloody great

HateSummer · 30/06/2018 01:17

Ffs. He was found innocent. The metoo campaign has helped many abused people speak out about their trauma. Nobody has mentioned MJ yet. That’s because there’s nobody he supposedly abused.

The only victim was Michael. He suffered as a child and an adult.

We lost the true King of Pop when he died and he’s paved the way for all these new pop stars who emulate MJ with his music and dance. If you want to ban MJ then ban all pop! Shame on you for making this thread.

4 pages in and you're still harping on with the same rubbish you opened the thread with, blatantly ignoring those who've said that they've looked into the trials, read the transcripts etc.

Sorry but this is laughable RedDwarves 😂

Some MNer claiming they've done research and banging their gavel saying he is innocent should not be taken as proof.

By all means link to relevant articles/judgements but the above is ludicrous.

hotsouple · 30/06/2018 01:29

Yeah, it fucking is. I did a poll at work after reading about this, and outside of the internet I have NEVER in my life met someone who thought he wasn't AT LEAST deeply inappropriate with children.

hotsouple · 30/06/2018 01:30

At least on the West Coast. I don't know about the East Coast, Maryland Mary.

RedDwarves · 30/06/2018 01:34

Some MNer claiming they've done research and banging their gavel saying he is innocent should not be taken as proof.

So a bit like the OP posting some contextless article from a gossip magazine as proof of his guilt?

Sure. Crack on.

RedDwarves · 30/06/2018 01:35

I did a poll at work

Well. That settles it then.

Shumpalumpa · 30/06/2018 01:38

RedDwarves

Where did I say articles are a proof of guilt?

This is so ridiculous! People are way too invested!

Shumpalumpa · 30/06/2018 01:40

I did a poll at work

Well. That settles it then.

Oh the irony. Like an MNer saying they've looked into the trials and transcripts settles it 😂

I heard Jordan Chandler, the first accuser, admitted that his father made it up and pressured him into lying.

But Snopes says No.

Lazypoolday · 30/06/2018 07:24

Ffs. He was found innocent

No he wasn't. He was found not guilty. Bit of a difference.

InfiniteCurve · 30/06/2018 07:39

If you are not going to listen/read/watch art made by people who have done things you think are morally wrong where will you stop?
I think Dickens treated his first wife absolutely appallingly - should Dickens no longer be part of our reading?
And does this mean if you are an artist we will boycott your work but if you work in science you're ok - I can't think of any well known scientific abusers but there must be some - should their work and anything that has come from it be boycotted?
I think for abusers who are still alive there should be consequences (obviouslyHmm) so perhaps no new work. But the work that is already out there should be judged on its own merits not on the character of its creator.IMO of course.

Spottytop1 · 30/06/2018 07:58

In regards to Wade Robson, he repeatedly denied any abuse took place during the court hearing.

It was only after MJ died he said he was abused and tried to sue the companies linked to Mj for large amounts of money.

@MissionItsPossible

You listed it in the first page. I think the current Pope is rather trim, actually.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 30/06/2018 08:30

No he wasn't. He was found not guilty. Bit of a difference.
Under the law you are innocent until proven guilty, so being found not guilty means he's innocent.

Rolf Harris on the other hand was found guilty.
