Single mum, work part time, educated to PhD level, grateful that I can work part time to give me more time with DC BUT...even with the extra time I have on my hands I find I struggle with the amount of 'things' that need to be done in general life and managing to keep track of it all. Current 'things' I am dealing with

Work reports and imminent work travel
DD millions of things needed to do before end of term including sports day, bake sale, dress up day, cards for teacher, end of term disco etc etc
Some sort of away day with one of DD's hobbies
Keeping plants alive in this heat
Keeping on top of cleaning and laundry
Planning holidays and booking DD into club for a few days
Sorting out my pension
Chasing up a lost parcel

This is just an example and the list could go on for ever. I feel like I am just constantly doing stuff just to keep general life happening and wonder if anyone else feels like this. Does anyone else feel they are treading water just to get on with 'life'.

Hi OP, i'll try to give a few suggestions

Work reports and travel - can you do this at work?
DD things - get her involved, how old is she, can you delegate small tasks to her. Don't home bake, just buy cakes and ready made costumes, don't bother with teacher cards. Don't bother with plants and when they die, chuck em away ;)

Don't clean, just wash up after dinner and blitz the place for an hour at the weekend, again get the kids involved.
One laundry load a day, straight into tumble dryer, no ironing.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, make yourself a coffee and sit down with a pen and paper. Divide the paper into 4 sections, "URGENT", "NON URGENT", "DELEGATE TO SOMEONE ELSE" AND "CAN BE LEFT FOR 3 MONTHS"

Hopefully others will be along with some tips too.
