AIBU to go to interview with naked legs?

Minor drama...I am usually a trouser suit person but this is a second interview and I thought I shouldn't go in the same suit so i decided to wear a dress (I have no idea why!). I have promptly laddered my tights, and now I have no idea if going with bare legs is a big rough? My legs are not lovely in any way, and I have a big scrape and bruise from falling over the lawn mower last night. I already feel hopped up on nerves, wish I had gone with my suit, feel silly in a dress and now I have no tights.

Aware I need to just get a grip...but can someone tell me whether bare legs is a massive no no. Job is "professional" and I already knocked over a chair at the first interview so am shocked even to have been invited back in the first place.

If you are already there and have laddered them then there is nothing you can do.

However I certainly wouldn’t plan to go bare legs. I don’t think it’s professional enough for an interview.

LegoBitcho · 27/06/2018 14:34

I think it is a no no, is there a shop you can pop into? Or mosituriser you can put on them? Dry, scaley (bruised) legs would be a ShockHmm from me sorry!

FeelLikeAPlum · 27/06/2018 14:37

I am at work and my interview is at 5:15 in the next town over, if I leave earlier than planned I can grab some new tights! I suspected to was a bit too casual!

Plum I've got a whopper graze on my knee as well.

Sounds like a good plan to race to get some tights beforehand and hope it goes well

FeelLikeAPlum · 27/06/2018 14:53

My DH works close to where my interview is so i've text him to see if he can meet me at the station before my interview with some tights to save a panic over timing.

I go barelegged to interviews and I was offered a job last week. In this heat tights simply aren’t hygienic. Frankly an interviewer shouldn’t be paying attention to your legs anyway!

FeelLikeAPlum · 27/06/2018 15:07

That's what my Husband said Angelo not about the heat...just a head scratch as to why anyone would notice

Naked legs OK.
Paw Patrol plaster on scrape def not OK!!
Good luck op!

MrsMozart · 27/06/2018 15:20

Hope it's going well lass.

madein1995 · 27/06/2018 15:58

I had bare legs for interview today, tbh it's so hot that tights or trousers are a no no. Wore a niceish dress and did suffer through with wearing a blazer. I did shave my legs though!

BananaHarvest · 27/06/2018 16:32

It would depend on job. I’d frown on bare legs at interview. I would expect staff attending external meetings or hearings to wear tights too. No sling backs either, for that matter.

sunsouttanon · 27/06/2018 16:35

I got an NHS job wearing slingbacks , and pink trousers 🤔

NameChange121 · 27/06/2018 16:36

Good luck on your interview!

HisBetterHalf · 27/06/2018 16:44

What century are we living in that bare legs can’t be shown?

CrispyBanger · 27/06/2018 16:47

WTF? Is this really a thing? Who cares if you wear tights, I mean really.

MaMaMaMySharona · 27/06/2018 16:49

I would never have even considered that bare legs was unprofessional! If you don't feel as comfortable without them then definitely try and pop to a shop first, but in general I'd say bare legs are fine - as long as your arse is covered!

BlueBug45 · 27/06/2018 16:50

Whether or not you should show bare legs depends on the company and the length of the dress. I normally take two pairs of tights with me and stop off somewhere to put them on near the interview. I also make sure my interview dresses have sleeves even if they are very short ones.

nokidshere · 27/06/2018 16:53

I wouldn't be putting tights on for anyone or any reason in this heat.

FeelLikeAPlum · 30/06/2018 20:05

Wore tights, got the job

Think rushing for rights and calling ahead to say I'll be 10 mins late cos of traffic might be best... but who knows Smile

Charmatt · 30/06/2018 20:08

Congratulations! I'm sure you got the job but if the tights made you more confident and less self conscious then they were a good choice.

FeelLikeAPlum · 30/06/2018 20:17

I could probably have done without the tights, one of my interviewers was heavily pregnant and had dress and tights on despite the heat and the other looked like she was off to the pub casual. They seem quite laid back so I’m hoping I’ll fit in ok without having to wear dresses too often 😁
