To think 8:30am is too early...

To be mowing the lawn and trimming hedges.

What a bloody racket, and it's still going (but it's now past 9am so socially I think that's a little more acceptable...)

I think it's fine in the week. To early for a weekend.

Snowysky20009 · 27/06/2018 09:10

Nope, aren't the majority up and about, out of the house already? I've been up since 7am, which isn't bad considering it was 5:45am I fell asleep.

Seeline · 27/06/2018 09:10

On a weekday, and in this weather when it's too hot to do much later in the day, I don't think that's too bad.

I'm pissed off that the dustmen came to collect our garden waste bins at 5.20 am this morning - that is too early.....

ProustianMadeleine · 27/06/2018 09:11

YABU

Plural · 27/06/2018 09:12

YABU on a weekday that's fine

sleepymouse · 27/06/2018 09:13

Nope, on a weekday that's perfectly fine...most people have well and truly started their day by then

OnNaturesCourse · 27/06/2018 09:13

Eugh so best not complain too much then 😂 luckily baby is still sleeping through the noise even with the window open. Light sleeper me however.

Lindah1 · 27/06/2018 09:15

It's well for you still in bed at 8:30 😂

No it’s not too early. From 8am is fine

WigglyBlossom · 27/06/2018 09:18

You have a baby and you're still in bed at 08:30? How do you manage that?

However, YABU, mowing the lawn at 08:30 on a weekday is ok. Especially as others pointed out in this heat.

Mrsramsayscat · 27/06/2018 09:19

I don't think it's too early in a week day. But we caused enormous offence in the past when we allowed builders who were building us a loft extension to start at 830 on week days.

OnNaturesCourse · 27/06/2018 09:19

Lindah. I tend to sleep until baby wakes unless we have something on. I'm a person who needs their sleep, badly!

I think it's just bacause in this heat our windows are open, and it's the neighbor directly next door plus a few others by the sound of things. Maybe there is a neighborhood lawnmowing event that I am not aware of 😂

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 27/06/2018 09:20

YANBU even on a weekday, it's rude, but so many people are unfortunately and have no consideration for their neighbours.

I don't understand why some people can't get around the fact that the whole world doesn't work 9 to 5 Monday to Friday.

Lindah1 · 27/06/2018 09:20

No offence meant - enjoy your sleep while you can Grin

OnNaturesCourse · 27/06/2018 09:21

And yes, I'm lucky in the sense DD sleeps well at night but at under a year she has already pretty much dropped naps. Swings and roundabouts.

littlepeas · 27/06/2018 09:22

It's totally fine! I would say fine for the weekend too.

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 27/06/2018 09:23

I think yabu because it's through the week and most people are up and about by 8.30am, so the rational part of me wants to say yabu but I did complain last night about kids still being outside playing at 8pm when I was trying to get the baby to sleep so I can kind of understand (and yes I know I was being totally u Blush )

OnNaturesCourse · 27/06/2018 09:24

I just always thought a blanket social rule of 9am for noise, 9:30am for anything loud. I was told to be quiet in the mornings when outside... Maybe it was my parents way of hushing me up! 😮

dueanotherchange · 27/06/2018 09:24

Sorry OP, 8.30am is fine. Just be grateful next door aren't having building work done. Round by me, they start banging at clattering at 7.45!

callmeadoctor · 27/06/2018 09:25

I think from 8am on a weekday is fine.

Sirzy · 27/06/2018 09:25

I would say quiet during the week until 8am.

In this heat getting jobs like grass cutting done early is pretty sensible really if you can.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 27/06/2018 09:26

Genuine question from someone who does work 9-5.30 (add in commute and I don't get home until 6.30pm). Is this too late to mow the lawn?

I only have the weekends at the mo and am struggling to cope (it's a big garden and have had to do extra work over the past couple of weekends) so it's turning into a bit of a jungle.

BarbaraofSevillle · 27/06/2018 09:27

YABU. Someone somewhere is always going to be offended by lawnmowing. It's too early, it's too late, what about my sleeping baby, what about shiftworkers, what about my peaceful afternoon in the garden, yada yada yada.

And the same people who get annoyed about lawnmowers are very likely to be the same people who judge a garden that isn't kept tidy.

When do you expect to cut the grass? Or do you think it is trimmed by fairies with scissors in the middle of the night?

ShatnersBassoon · 27/06/2018 09:27

It's fine. My neighbours have builders in at the moment, and they solemnly promised they wouldn't allow them to up-tools before 0830. So that, it seems, is the universally recognised acceptable time to start noisy work on a weekday.
