Piles

Posting here for traffic as I’m at my wits end with piles.

I had a c section 3 weeks ago and didn’t manage to go to the bathroom for 9 days following it. Then for a few days I couldn’t be more than 10 feet from a bathroom.

What I’ve been left with is some serious piles and they are killing me. I can’t sleep at night with the pain! I’ve tried suppositories and they’re done nothing.

Without too much detail they’re huge and right at the opening. I need advice. Has anyone had terrible piles before? What did you do? What can I do because I have 2 children to look after and the pain of these is worse than the c section

Soak a pad of cotton wool in witch hazel gel, place right against piles and leave it there as long as you can- and a toilet step for a foot stool in the bathroom helps too 💐

We're all wincing for you, OP. Piles and toothache, two of the most underrated complaints in the world.

I had exactly this after my emcs. I thought I'd avoided all that because of not having to push in the end!
The only thing that helped with the pain/swelling was putting 1% hydrocortisone cream (over the counter from boots) on them sparingly (outside piles only, not up inside and not for longer than a few days). I'd tried all the anusols/gemarloids etc and they didn't do a thing.

Hope they clear up soon!

Has there been any improvement, OP?

Because apparently the allergy to whatever it is in the OTC stuff is quite common. I suffered for weeks when I was pregnant with Number 3 because the doctor kept prescribing me the cheap stuff (Anusol and one other). I didn't realise that it was supposed to work almost immediately, and was putting in suppositories and applying the cream to no effect. When I went back for an AN appointment and showed him the piles he said 'hmmm', and instantly prescribed me something different (Anugesic), which solved them almost overnight! It had been the allergy that had been causing them to flare almost as much as the pregnancy!

This is no weather for piles. All sufferers have my deepest sympathy.
