Karaoke in the garden, it's really fucking rude.

It's with speakers and everything loud volume and she's currently bellowing 'Jolene'...why are people so inconsiderate.

I don't give a shit it's before 11pm on a Saturday I've been trying to get my 1 year old dd to sleep for over an hour and even though all the windows are closed and it's melting in here she keeps trying to sit up and look out the window.

The problem is, the neighbour is larey and I know asking to turn it down will just make them laugh. I don't want to waste police time by asking them to deal with noise! ... shall I post dds nappy through the letter box?! Grin

Shock My head is exploding just reading your OP.

Your only option is to do a stinky bonfire. At least that's what the people 5 doors down do on every nice evening and it clears all gardens nicely Hmm

Jolene as well... leave Dolly Parton well alone people Angry

Kittykatmacbill · 23/06/2018 20:17

Yes

SilverLiningSomewhere · 23/06/2018 20:17

We've had simply the best and a awful rendition of I am what I am(off the radox advert)the end of that was particularly painful!

And I'm in a bloody flat opposite so not capable of anything revenge worthy!

Karaoke.... In the garden...... Oh my!!!

That is awful. Do they do it often

People who are thick and entitled enough to do this, usually aren't the type of people you can nip round and 'have a word with' Shock

SilverLiningSomewhere · 23/06/2018 20:21

I just can't get over how loud and inconsiderate it is. There's also quite a few people in the garden so once the drink kicks in there will be twatty cackles and drunk shouty convos.

Karaoke is always unreasonable, at all times, in all places.

Tistheseason17 · 23/06/2018 20:24

Can't wait til your DC is a teenager.... wait and see the noise they make.

Another bonkers noise AIBU on a Saturday night.

YADBU

P.s. I'd be wetting myself hearing someone murdering Jolene! Grin

Greenyogagirl · 23/06/2018 20:26

Yabu unless it’s all night every night suck it up or move to the middle of nowhere

SprogletsMum · 23/06/2018 20:26

I clicked on this wondering if you're one of my neighbours because we've got inconsiderate arseholes having an outdoor karaoke party too but I don't think we've had Jolene yet.
I've had to shut my Windows and I can still hear every word Angry

QuoadUltra · 23/06/2018 20:28

FGS. It isn’t even 8.30pm.

YABU. Move to the countryside.

Funnyface1 · 23/06/2018 20:51

I can't stand inconsiderate, loud neighbours... but it is Jolene! Love a bit of Jolene.

SilverLiningSomewhere · 23/06/2018 20:51

Move to the country? I'd probably still hear them.

Sproglet how funny would it be it was the same house?! Has she just done Whitney?

My dd has finally fallen asleep though as at least that's something.

YANBU. Selfish oiks.

LighthouseSouth · 23/06/2018 20:54

Yanbu

We need way better noise regs.

And you need to talk to other neighbors and concoct revenge.

Pippa12 · 23/06/2018 20:55

Confused its inly 8pm? Luve a little i say...

DereksGotATail · 23/06/2018 21:00

YABU. It's still early and unless you live in the middle of the country then you should expect some noise.
I love both Jolene and I am what I am.
The police would not entertain a call about noise at this time Confused

SprogletsMum · 23/06/2018 21:04

No we're nowhere near as good as Whitney. We did get a bit of Tom Jones.

maddening · 23/06/2018 21:35

The police do not deal with noise at all, public disorder etc yes but noise no. It is environmental health that deal with noise, however they would not deal with one off noise. Once eh get involved letters go to the noisy neighbor and you keep a diary, then the noise team work out whether there is a statutory nuisance or not and then the may install recording equipment and give you the number for the oncall team who will come out a witness the noise.

However it is also a misnomer that you can make any level of noise thaT you want beFore 11, that simply isn't the case. Tolerances do decrease as the evening as it gets later and 11pm does have significance - however it is possible for noise to be a statutory nuisance in the day or early evening also.

dudsville · 23/06/2018 21:38

I would hate this. The most I get is the occasional old school R&B, not that loud, while they do their gardening. I dread anyone moving out and loud folks taking their place!

Twilight456 · 23/06/2018 21:39

YANBU this would drive me crazy! Some people are so inconsiderate, i hope they aren't too noisy throughout the night for you. I get so frustrated at noise that doesn't need to be made too!

CoughLaughFart · 23/06/2018 21:40

I really don’t think you can complain about a party at 8pm. Maybe you could go over at 6am tomorrow, hammer on the door relentlessly and, when they answer, sing the Bodyform theme at them at the top of your voice?

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 23/06/2018 21:43

I think the people who need to move to the middle of nowhere are the ones who think it's OK to do a karaoke in your back garden where you know it will annoy the hell out of literally dozens of people... they are the ones who have no idea how to live next to others.

LokiBear · 23/06/2018 21:46

Every sunny day the arseholes at the back of us have a party. The base is so loud we can hear it over the tv with all of the windows and doors closed. We've tried talking to them. When drunk they become abusive and when sober they tell us to tirn our music up so we could have a 'friendly battle'. Weve lodged a complaint with the council but our only real option is to move. Sad

keyboardkate · 23/06/2018 21:48

Oh come on, it is Summer, things happen.

We might not do it ourselves, but live and let live.

There is an awful lot of angst here about people enjoying themselves, even if it is loud. A One or two off is ok to me, but anymore than that and I would really get the rage!

Did the neighbours tell you they are going to have a late night jolly?

Ours do and we are invited, but we never go. And suck it up.

Eye masks, ear plugs are your friend.

Summertime, and the living is easy.
