As Holiday makers, have you ever wondered why you are asked to pay a refundable damage deposit?
The reason is - not every one is respectful or treats rental homes as they would their own.
Just a month ago we posted pictures of our newly refurbished studio apartment in our villa in Spain with a brand new day bed that pulls out to two singles or a double.
With thanks to our first guests of this season we will now have to refurb again although the deposit may not cover the cost of their "the bed just broke"
We have a great team of cleaners that keep our Villa in immaculate condition but they should not have to clean up what has been left.
Why would anyone leave a holiday villa in this condition?

What the heck of they done? Did they leave the bed on its side like that?

Sorry OP that is awful! Some people are so Disrespectful and I'm glad you were sensible enough to have a deposit to claim from.
Hopefully you'll only have lovely, clean guests from now on. Personally I clean and clean when leaving a holiday home as I'd be mortified at someone having to clean up after us. We're not all bad, honest :)

I'm a bit confused. Is it broken? It looks like the slats have just come out and the 3rd picture looks like they just left a couple bags of bagged up rubbish. Am I missing some pictures?

I'm confused, too. Are the first two pictures of the same bed, or did they leave one on its side and one broken on the patio? Neither of them look very sturdy or comfortable.

I don't think it's a huge cheek to expect cleaners to take out a bag of neatly-bagged rubbish...

Very hard to tell from the pics you'd need to 'refurb' again. Do the slats not just fit back on the bed? Don't get the third pic either, did they leave you some wine?

Ive never seen a bed with such thin slats to be fair - i know its a day bed but still ...

I cant see anything wrong with picture 3. Theyve just bagged up their rubbish havent they?

How many people rented? adults? children? Did you test the bed before you installed it?

Maybe the bed was defective?

Another here who tidies and cleans before leaving a holiday home.

My cleaners once told me that I would have been heartbroken to see the mess a group had left my cottage in. Some people are disgusting.

Buy a better quality bed! Put the slats back in, the rubbish is bagged up.
Is this a reverse?

I always take my rubbish out but they've as least bagged it up.

There are 2 weeks worth of rubbish in the kitchen, the fridge is full of old food.
The day bed has been jumped on or who knows what,
Metal legs cracked and wooden slats under the mattress snapped in half.
The bed put on its side and two mattresses left on the floor.
White cushions on our ratten garden furniture covered in stains
tiles broken in the pool
wires pulled out od sockets
But yes thats OK it just a holiday villa

I’ve never seen such an unsturdy looking bed in a holiday let. It looks quite cheap. Not sure how it is supposed to look folded up but the slats look very thin as others have said.

Last photo looks just like a couple of bin bags needing taken out, places by the bin. Not something I’d do myself but don’t really see the need to take their deposit off them.

I assume I’m a bit thick and can’t see the huge amount of damage that you’re talking about OP.

The bed looks a bit flimsy for a holiday let. These cheap things are not very robust.

God, op, calm down!! You didn’t mention any of these things, just posted a pic of a couple of bags of rubbish and a bed on its side.

Now I know why villas charge such a big deposit. Hope you can get it all sorted, and ban these guests.

I’m afraid white cushions on furniture are not good idea on your part. Even careful holiday makers would get those dirty.

You are being a bit passive aggressive on this list though... obviously we all agree that people should be respectful of property.

Ok I’m guessing the bed broke, they still needed to sleep so slept on the mattresses on the floor and didn’t know where to put the bed so just put it on its side.

But weird they didn’t inform you of that when it happened. A toilet seat snapped once in our holiday gite and we told the owners immediately. They already had a spare one in cos they said it was always happening and that it was fine.

Other stuff isn’t great. Not removing rubbish isn’t fantastic but I have heard of people doing this as they’re lazy sods! Some people leave food in fridge in case the cleaner can use it. I wouldn’t have white anything because stains would be inevitable. Should have been washable covers to the rattan furniture.

I'm sorry OP, but that bed looks cheap and uncomfortable, and who uses white cushions in a holiday let?
I should imagine the bed on the side and mattresses on the floor was so no unsuspected person tried to sleep on it, and to make sure you saw it.
maybe kids been jumping n it with excitement, or an amorous couple fancied a bit
just replace with sturdy beds, and have a clean up.
Hopefully the deposit will cover the tile, and cleaning.
