With the rise in anti-immigrant sentiment and the popularity of right-wing and Eurosceptic Governments in Italy, Poland, Hungary and possibly Germany, it doesn't look like EU unity will last.

I live in Europe, far from thinking that they should also leave most are looking at the UK in the same way people rubberneck accidents on a motorway, and they are very grateful its not them leaving

I do think prior to the UK Brexit vote, that there were other countries who had there been a vote may have left, now seeing what a mess its causing in the UK, it has strengthen pro EU feelings

I do wonder, like many what life will be like 5, 10 and 20 years after Brexit, if it is as bad as many predict what happens then?

cholka · 23/06/2018 18:58

Nooo. Other countries are watching what a balls-up we're making of leaving and wondering why we're so stupid.
There are right-wing pricks everywhere for sure, they'll try and push anti-EU sentiment to garner popularity but I don't think other countries will leave. The rich ones are too enmeshed (as are we btw) and the poorer countries have mostly been through communism and know the value of stability/FOM when they see it.

If you look at the wider world issues and countries of the Southern EU and possibly Eastern there is potentially a lot more 'bad stuff' possible than a little spat with the UK. There is strength in numbers and they will see that, even if there are internal tensions in individual countries.
Brexit is basically about money, the other countries could be facing terrorism or war (from outside the EU). A different prospect altogether.
Fascism may be 'well hard' but against fundamentalists who are 'fine' with suicide bombing?
